I NSI DE THI S I SSUE: The resurrection of Jesus is central to understanding what it means to be a Christian. As Christians, we serve a Lord who became a man, died in our place then rose again, - Reports 7-12 defeating death for Himself, and for His people. For Christians, that means our fear of - 2021/22 Term Dates 2 death is taken away and our hope of heaven is made certain. - Follow Us Online The death and resurrection of Jesus is central to the educational philosophy at Carinya and the communal life we enjoy as we serve Jesus in the education of our students. We want our students to know that we do not follow a religion or a - NAPLAN Online 3 denomination, nor a tradition or merely a set of Christian ?values?, important as these - Uniform Shop may be. We serve a personal, risen and sovereign Lord, who became a person like us so that by His death and resurrection we could become like Him and be with Him forever. - Years 5-10 4 What great news came on that first Easter morning when the tomb was empty! The Excursions angel cried: ?Why do you look for the living among the dead?He isnot here; he hasrisen!? (Luke 24:5-6). That is why Easter is such an important time in the year for us to rejoice and remember, with renewed passion, that ?He is risen?and He is returning one day to take His people home. BACK FOR TERM 2 ON 19 APRIL As is always the case, it has been an exciting and rewarding term in many ways and staff continue to enjoy the privilege of sharing with parents in the education of their children. Thank you for a great term of learning together. On behalf of all staff, I would like to wish all parents and students a safe, enjoyable and relaxing vacation time. NAPLAN ONLINE The National Assessment Program ? Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. Carinya will be participating in NAPLAN Online in Weeks 4 and 5 of Term 2. In preparation for NAPLAN Online, we will be participating in practice tests next week (Week 9). The practice test is a trial-run and key preparation activity for NAPLAN Online in May. It is not an assessment of student ability and the tests will not be marked. Excessive preparation for NAPLAN Online is not recommended. Students can use the public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site) to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in the NAPLAN Online tests.
