Local Schools Vie for the Chance to Win up to $10,000 from WTOP Washington, D.C. – WTOP and WTOP.com, along with Huntington Learning Center, have announced the fourth annual “Click for Kids” contest in support of public and charter schools in the DMV. Here’s how it works. Principals and vice principals nominate their schools to win $10,000 (Grand prize), $7,500 (first place) and $5,000 (second place). Public and charter schools (K-12) in the following counties/districts are eligible: Maryland: Anne Arundel County, Calvert County, Charles County, Frederick County, Howard County, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and St. Mary’s County; Virginia: Arlington County, Culpeper County, Fairfax County, Fauquier County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Stafford County, Spotsylvania County, City of Alexandria, City of Fairfax, City of Falls Church, City of Manassas, and City of Manassas Park Washington D.C. Nominations open February 11, 2019 and close Friday, February 22nd at 5 p.m. Principals and vice principals go to WTOP.com and search “kids” to nominate your school. Voting for qualified schools will take place from March 4 to March 13 at 5 p.m. All voters must be at least 13-years-old to participate. The school with the most votes at the end of the voting window will win $10,000, the school with the second most votes will win $7,500 and third takes home $5,000. Winners will be announced Monday, March 18. “As a local news organization we love the opportunity to participate and invest in the future of these incredible kids and their education.
