Phase 1B – Education Teachers & Support Staff 13
POSSIBLE OMSD EMPLOYEE COVID-19 VACCINATION SURVEY • Work collaboratively with association leadership (CSEA & OMTA) to draft an instrument that helps us gauge number of staff who have participated in the vaccine process. • Although not a mandate at this time, the vaccine continues to be an important safety measure for those interacting with the students, families and community. • Anticipated questions: • I intend to get the COVID-19 vaccine but have not started the process. • I have already received the first of two (2) COVID-19 vaccine shots. • I have successfully completed the COVID-19 vaccine process. • I do not plan on receiving the COVID-19 vaccine at this time. 14
RETURN TO SCHOOL SUBCOMMITTEES • Return to school work and task group meeting – February 26 • Set the stage for continued stakeholder engagement in aligning district plans with California Department of Public Health guidance from January 14, 2021 • Return to school task group meetings – 2/26 – 3/12 • Synthesize information in guidance documents and provide input on district return to school and work documents • Return to school work and task group meeting – March 12 • Present stakeholder group input and impact on return to school and work documents for OMSD. 15
RETURNING TO SCHOOL Teacher ThoughtExchange Survey • 451 teachers participated • Three themes: • Class size • Time to re-engage with students & build relationships • Intervention The ABCs of Returning to In-Person Instruction 16
CAASPP TESTING UPDATE • The federal Education Department requires states to administer summative assessments annually. In California, the required tests are CAASPP for ELA, Math and Science. • While the state’s testing waiver in 2019-2020 was approved by the Education Department, at this time no waivers have been granted for this school year. • The state has reduced both the ELA and Math computer tests to about 20 questions, roughly half or previous years’. • The test has new features, including built-in audio/video monitoring of students, for proctoring during administration. • Parents may opt their student out of testing and have been notified of their rights by the District. District employees are not allowed to solicit or encourage parents to exempt their child per ed code. [5 c.C.R. § 852(c)] 17
