February 2020 Calhoun County 4-H Clover Kids News From the Desk of Tiffany Blair I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the nice weather we had last weekend. It sounds like we might have another sunny weekend ahead of us as well. Sure signs that Spring is coming! With that being said, it is time to start preparing for your clothing and communications events and getting your livestock identified in 4HOnline. If you plan to exhibit livestock, and missed last month’s newsletter, please be sure to go back to our website and check it out. If you need tags for your animals to identify them, please let me or your club leaders know so we can get those to you. Tags for sheep and goats are $1.25 per tag and tags for beef are $1.50 per tag. Looking for something to do this Saturday? Calhoun County Extension and Outreach, Calhoun County Conservation, and Calhoun County Soil and Water Conservation District are partnering together to offer a youth ice fishing opportunity at Roos Pond, (Highway 4 Recreational Area) located just south of Rockwell City on Highway 4 on Saturday, February 29. This free event will run from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Participants are asked to dress for the cold weather and come prepared to have a great time on the ice. Families are encouraged to attend together for this event. A few poles and bait will be provided as well as a small shelter on the ice. Feel free to bring your own poles if you would like. Reminder, there are still around 20 Clover Kids “pending” in 4HOnline. Please submit your $15 enrollment fee to our office to finalize your child’s enrollment. Once this has been paid, your account will be activated. Please be aware, you will not be able to identify your livestock or sign up for clothing and communication events until this is done! Please let me know ISU Extension and if you have questions or need Outreach Calhoun County assistance with this.
