Newport Community School Newport Community offers virtual tutoring Monday through Thursday. Monday-English, Tuesday-Science, Wednesday’s- English and Math & Thursdays is Math. If interested, please email: alyssahirsbrunner@npsri.net Impact Aid Forms Parents/Guardians – We are still in need of quite of few Impact Aid forms to be returned. PLEASE take a few minutes to complete the form which was mailed to you and mail it back in the stamped, return envelope that was enclosed with the form. Your time is appreciated. Meal Distribution NPS working with Chartwells and our community partner, Newport Community School, meals are served in several locations across the City. All meals are free of charge, for all children 18 years or younger. Children do not need to be NPS students in order to receive meals. Click here for locations at times. Class of 2022 Fundraiser Please support the Class of 2022 by buying a Vikings hat, mask or one of each! Hats are $18 and masks are $12 each or 2 for $20. Go to room 136 to purchase! Senior Project for Anna Murphy Hi All ~ For my senior project I'm going to be doing a trash pickup contest the January 25 through January 29. To win the prize of a $50 gift card to a local restaurant of choice, you must send in pictures of all the trash you have picked up along with a picture of you in action. On -Site Testing for Students and Staff: NPS will have the opportunity to provide asymptomatic testing at school in February. The schedule is being nalized and more detailed information will be distributed as soon as it is available. Beginning January 7, the Edward King House Senior Center (35 King Street) will serve as a walk-in COVID-19 Rapid Test site. Free Rapid BinaxNOW tests will be given from 12 – 4 PM on Thursdays and Fridays during the month of January.
RI School of Design CE Course Offerings - RIDE -Spring 2021 Greetings from Rhode Island School of Design Continuing Education! As a new provider with the All Course Network, we are happy to offer the following three courses to students in grades 9-12. Drawing: The Dystopic Future Photography + Design: The Future In Focus Illustration: Be the Future Each course has 20 spaces available and will run from January 30 - May 15, 2021 via our online learning management system, CE Link. Students will need access to a computer and internet connection in order to participate. These asynchronous online courses have no live class sessions or set meeting times, and must be completed by its speci ed end date. The course will include video presentations, detailed tutorials and discussion forums. Assignments will be sequenced so that one leads to the next and will include project deadlines. Sharing work and getting feedback or guidance from the instructor as well as giving and receiving suggestions from your peers happens frequently. Students receive individualized support for idea development and critique of work. To keep pace with the course, students should expect to log in regularly to CE Link, our online course management platform. Students in these courses should plan to spend two to three hours each week reviewing lessons, participating in discussion forums, and completing assignments. Con rmed students will be provided with the necessary supplies needed for their speci c course. Students will need to arrange to pick up these materials from the RISD Store, 30 North Main St. Providence. More information to follow.
