BOOK ADAPTATION RIGHTS MARKET - VENICE 3-5.09.2021 - MARKET FOR SELECTED PROJECTS - Venice Production Bridge
From the beginning, the Venice Production Bridge was
established to foster the development and production
of international and European projects across a range
of audio-visuals forms. The idea consisted in building
an opportunity of encountering and networking for all
the professionals involved in production and to provide
them with a wide range of services which would be
corresponding to every production stages.
The story being the key element, we created, six years ago,
the Book Adaptation Rights Market (BARM) with a
precise intent : being different from what was already
existing in the festivals.
We proposed and are still proposing renowned
international publishing houses and publishers to present
not only their new titles but also the complete catalogues.
The increasing demand for stories to be adapted not only
for the big screen but also for TV and the streaming
platforms and the success of the BARM, lead us to extend
the number of publishers from 15 to 25.

one-to-one meetings
                                                                                           more than 300 in 2019
                                                                                           more than 172 in 2020
The BARM organizes one-to-one meetings (more than 300 in
2019) over 3 days (Sept 3-5, 2021) in order to trigger encounters
between producers and publishers so that they can foster long
time relationships.
Last year for the 5th edition, despite the pandemic, 18 publishers
have participated to the BARM (13 on site and 5 online) and 172
meetings were organized (135 on site and 37 online). For the first
time the international publishers had to record the pitch of their
new titles as well as to present their complete catalogues in a
short video, which was available on the VPB website so that all
producers, on-site and online, were able to discover the richness
and diversity of those publishing houses.

In 2020 we welcomed for the first time,
the publishers and literary agents:
