Suy Niệm Ngay từ đầu mùa chay, phụng vụ đã kêu mời mỗi người chúng ta sám hối, để có thể xứng đáng đón nhận ơn cứu độ của Đức Kitô trong ngày đại lễ Phục Sinh sắp tới. Mùa chay sắp kết thúc, nhưng cũng chưa quá muộn để chúng ta chôn vùi bản thân, từ bỏ chính mình vì Đức Kitô và vì anh em, bởi vì có cùng chết với Đức Kitô, thì rồi chúng ta mới sẽ được sống lại trong vinh quang với Ngài. Trong chiều hướng đó, suốt bốn chúa nhật vừa qua, Tin Mừng giới thiệu cho chúng ta những bộ mặt khác nhau của Chúa Giêsu, Đấng cứu độ duy nhất của chúng ta hôm qua, hôm nay và mãi mãi. Trong Chúa nhật V mùa chay này phụng vụ cho thấy, khi chấp nhận cái chết Thập Giá, Chúa Giêsu đã trở nên hạt giống gieo vào lòng đất, chấp nhận mục nát để trổ sinh nhiều bông trái. Sự tự hiến và tự hủy của Chúa Giêsu đã chứng minh một chân lý xem ra có vẻ nghịch lý “cho là nhận, chết là đường đưa tới sự sống”. Tuy nhiên, muốn sống tự hiến và tự hủy, chúng ta phải chấp nhận sống khiêm nhu, nhỏ bé, hy sinh, xả kỷ quên mình. Đức Kitô kêu mời mỗi người chúng ta theo gương Người, trở thành như hạt lúa: cần phải được vùi xuống đất, chết đi để sinh nhiều bông hạt. Không phải chết về thể xác, nhưng chết về những tính xấu trong con người của chúng ta: ích kỷ, kiêu căng, bất công, thù oán… Nhờ bí tích Thanh Tẩy, chúng ta đã được dìm vào trong nước thanh tẩy, nghĩa là được dìm trong cái chết của Đức Kitô và cùng sống lại với Người, sống một đời sống mới. Trong đời sống mới này, chúng ta có thể nói như thánh Phaolô: “Tôi sống, nhưng không còn phải là tôi, mà là Đức Kitô sống trong tôi”. Là môn đệ của Đức Kitô, chúng ta cần phải theo sát gót Người: “Ai phục vụ Thầy, thì hãy theo Thầy; và Thầy ở đâu, kẻ phục vụ Thầy cũng sẽ ở đó. Ai phục vụ Thầy, Cha của Thầy sẽ quí trọng người ấy”. Theo Thầy Chí Thánh vác thập giá mỗi ngày, hy sinh quên mình phục vụ tha nhân, ngay cả đến việc hy sinh mạng sống của mình vì Đức Kitô. Chúng ta được mời gọi để trở nên những vị thánh của thiên niên kỷ mới. Chúng ta sẽ không đáp trả được lời mời gọi này, nếu chúng ta không chấp nhận hy sinh. Chúng ta hãy chọn lựa hy sinh với niềm vui để có thể đáp trả được lời mời gọi này và dâng hiến tất cả cho Chúa Giêsu và Nước Trời. Lạy Chúa Giêsu, xin giúp con quảng đại trong việc dâng hiến cuộc sống để phục vụ cho Nước Thiên Chúa. Xin giúp con đừng tính toán thiệt hơn, nhưng xin cho con cảm nghiệm được niềm vui sống trọn vẹn cho một mình Chúa mà thôi. Ước gì, trong Mùa Chay thánh này, chúng ta sống như hạt lúa: biết hoán cải lòng mình để sống thánh thiện hơn, mến Chúa hơn, và sống bác ái hơn với mọi người, để chuẩn bị tích cực mừng đại lễ Phục Sinh sắp tới.
