Born in Ghana, chef Hudu Alhassan prides himself on being able to offer the best dishes, made with the finest local and imported ingredients. Operating since 1996 in the vibrant dining hub of Newtown, African Feeling has played an integral role in demonstrating the exotic varieties of West African cuisine that diners have come to love. Rich stews usually eaten with potato and rice, as well as exotic game and fish, are all incorpo- rated into the incredibly diverse and unique meals that thrill Sydney's diners when they come to eat at African Feeling Restaurant. Entreés - Each serve consists of 4 pieces accompanied by dip - Vegetarian Triangles Potatoes traditionally spiced, mixed with vegetables and herbs and encased in a light pastry served with our home made African Feeling sauce. (South Africa) $12.00 Mince Samosas Pastry triangles filled with a delicious savoury mince, fresh coriander, shallots and served with our home made African Feeling sauce. (Southern & Eastern Africa) $13.00 African Cigar Sautéed beef minced and ground with herbs and spices wrapped in a light pastry. (Morocco) $13.50 Kpoff-Kpoff Light fluffy golden dumplings – a Nigerian staple and household favourite. (Nigeria) $12.00 Kelewele Ripe banana marinated in ginger, red chilli and salt and deep fried. It’s a fusion of sweet and spicy plantain, and is absolutely delicious! (Ghana – seasonal) $13.50 Prawn Onion Juicy prawns, first steamed and then lightly pan fried with onion and seasoning. Lamb in oriental spices with raisin sauce. (Morocco) $22.00 Bua Tender goat meat slow cooked in a delectable spinach sauce. (Ghana) $24.00 Egusi Stew This favourite from western Africa contains diced beef cooked in spinach and ground almond meal. Sides Fufu This stable food is found all over Sub-Saharan Africa and is known by a variety of different names. Fufu is ground cereal, steamed and mashed, served in a ball and usually eaten by hand. $8.00 Chapatti African flat bread, a great substitute to rice, handy for stews. $4.00 Shinkafabihi Shinkafabihi originated in North Africa and has since migrated southwards – you may know this dish as cous cous!
