14th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 7, 2019 Father Michael Cormier was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on July 15, 1964 to Raymond and Pauline (LeBlanc) Cormier. He was baptized at St. Francis Catholic Church, in Leominster. His education was through the public-school system, where he enjoyed music and art. He graduated from Billerica Memorial High School in 1982 and later attended the Massachusetts College of Art for one year, followed by 1-1/2 years at St. John’s Seminary, in Brighton, Massachusetts. Taking some time away from seminary life, Father Cormier spent nine years as a laboratory technician for DuPont, spending much of his time in cancer research. After moving with his parents to Citrus County, Florida, he worked for a short time as an animal technician in a veterinary clinic. During this time, he continued to utilize his artistic talents in the area of drawing and wood carving. One of Father Cormier’s favorite hobbies was creating decoys from photos of various types of ducks (for full article see our parish website). Still, the Lord was persistent in calling Father Cormier to the priesthood. In 1992, he entered St. John Vianney College Seminary, in Miami and was later accepted into St. Fr. Mike’s Sample Art Work Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary, in Boynton Beach, where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Father Michael Cormier was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of St. Petersburg on May 13, 2000 by Bishop Robert N. Lynch. Florida Catholic article from 1999 In the nineteen years since his ordination, Father Cormier has served as Parochial Vicar of St. Paul Parish, St. Petersburg (2000-2005) and St. Cecelia Parish, Clearwater (2005-2007) and as Pastor of St. James Parish, Port Richey, where he has provided excellent leadership for the past twelve years. He has also served the Diocese of St. Petersburg as Vicar Forane (Dean) of the West Central Deanery and as Pastor of Bishop Larkin Catholic School, in Port Richey. In May, following the recommendation of the diocesan Clergy Personnel Board, Bishop Gregory Parkes appointed Father Cormier as Pastor of Incarnation Parish. 4
