Financial Services Property Tax Bill Interim bills are mailed at the end of January and the final bills are mailed at the end of June. Make sure you open your tax bill for important information and landfill passes. If you are moving or have changed your mailing address, please contact us immediately. 2020 Tax Installment Dates: March 2, 2020; May 4, 2020; October 10, 2020; and August 5, 2020. Building and Planning The Building and Planning Department provides a wide range of services that pertain to land use and the enforcement of the Ontario Building Code. Who needs a building permit? Permits are required for any significant change to a home or property including: Ÿ home additions, pools, open decks and porches; new or replacement of solid fuel heating systems, event tents greater than 642 sq ft. etc. . . Ÿ Permits are also required to demolish a building or structure. What projects DO NOT require a building permit? Ÿ An accessory building with a total floor area of 10 square meters (108 sq. ft.) or less (must comply with zoning) Ÿ Fences – requirements within the Fence By-law must be met Ÿ Replacement of windows or doors provided the size does not change Why should I get a permit? Permits provide you with the assurance that the municipality has reviewed your plans, and that your project complies with the Ontario Building Code, local Zoning By-laws and other applicable laws and regulations. How do I obtain a building permit? We recommend that you review our Permit Information Package online before visiting our office for a permit. Reservations encouraged. Bike Share Program Rent a bike at the Marina for a half or full day. Renters must be 16 years of age or older. Rental includes a helmet and a bicycle lock.
8 B.E.L. Rotary Bridgenorth Trail Brumwell Street, Bridgenorth and 5th Line, Smith The accessible trail is approximately 2.3 km long and runs from Brumwell Street to 5th Line. The trail is lined with native trees and boasts a peaceful and tranquil setting amidst the Miller Creek Wetland. There are benches located along the trail that provide a comfortable resting spot. The trail heads feature parking and a large trail map identifying local points of interest. Ennismore Heritage Trail 1053 Ennis Road, Ennismore (Ennismore Waterfront Park) The naturalized trail is located in the Ennismore Waterfront Park, which is made up of 3 loops that total approximately 1.5 km. Interpretive signage guides you through a variety of natural settings and points of interest. Features include two boardwalks, an osprey viewing platform, and an interior picnic area with pavilion. Ennismore Fitness Trail 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore (behind the Ennismore Community Centre) Located at the Robert E. Young Recreation Complex, the outdoor fitness trail features 1,150 metres of trail and five fitness stations, making it suitable for many ages and abilities. Access to the outdoor fitness trail is available at no charge and promotes healthy active living. Located next to the fitness trail, is a play structure and a shade shelter, making the complex a fabulous community hub with something for all ages to enjoy! Lakefield Trail - www.lakefieldtrail.ca Located throughout the Village of Lakefield The scenic trail network encompasses both the natural setting and heritage of the Village. You may enter or leave the trail system from several access points. Covering over 8.5 km, the accessible trail is ideal for walking, jogging or cycling. There are benches and shade shelters located along the trail that provide comfortable resting spots. The Lakefield Trail Committee offers a variety of programs to contribute to the trail, including the Friends Program and Bench Program. If you would like to donate to the trail, please contact the Township office at 705-292-9507. Andrew Trail The quaint 450 m trail is beautifully situated in the Smith Ward connecting the communities of the Eastwood Road and Andrew Avenue communities. The screened and levelled trail creates an easy and comfortable terrain for any participant. Formalized in 2018, the trail boasts native wildflowers and shrubs. Fairbairn Trail This 1.2 km picturesque trail provides a serene setting among the native trees and charming birds. The trail has entrances off of Lindsay Road and the Fifth Line and includes parking at both trail head locations. 2019 saw the completion of Phase 1 of the multi-phase project. Once all 3 phases are complete, the trail will ultimately connect Bridgenorth to Peterborough. We encourage you to enjoy this NEW portion of trail in our beautiful Township.
