ZEE NEWS - APRIL 2018 PAGE 9 Note From Your Foundation Ambassador: As President, Sonja Hȍnig Schough said in her March letter to all of our club presidents, I, too, would to thank you for believing in Zonta and committing your time and talent to create a better world for women in your community, nationally and internationally. We set challenging goals for this biennium (2016-2018), and I am happy to report that we are almost there. Without your sup- port this would not have been possible. So…where do we stand on reaching our foundation goals? As you’ll see from the following chart, the Rose Fund is over funded (357%) and the Young Women in Public Affairs is almost reaching its goal at 98%. And you’ll notice that the International Service Program (ISP), ZISVAW and the Amelia Earhart Fellowship and the Jane M. Klausman Women In Business Scholarship are about half way to reaching their goals. Besides our international foundation goals the district set goals as well. One of District 5 goals is to raise $100,000 for the foundation (2016-2018) and I am happy to report that we are almost there; however, we are about $23,000 short. With still a few more months left in this biennium if you haven’t already made a donation to the foundation (which is tax deductible) I urge you to please consider doing so. If you have already made a donation and are able to give a little bit more – It would be greatly appreciated. Whether you’re able to donate $10, $20 or more — every donation makes a difference! With your contribution, no matter how small or how big — You are helping to change the lives of women and children all over the world! I will have donation envelopes on our meeting tables going forward so if you’d like to make a do- nation please use the envelope to do so. You can also go online and make a donation. Your gift gives her a voice, an opportunity, a future. Kristi A. Bryant District 5 Foundation Ambassador

ZEE NEWS - APRIL 2018 PAGE 14 Area 1 Meeting April 7 in Sylvania: Nancy Abbey, Kristi Bryant and Jane Shoemaker are attending. OLD BUSINESS: Minutes from the March 6 Business Meeting: After the draft was emailed the sentence “The club ap- proved the District changes, passed by voice vote.” was inserted. Lyn Benavides made a motion to ap- prove with that addition, Karen Flanagan seconded and with there being no further changes or discussion, motion carried. 2019 Nominating Committee vote: Ballots were handed out to vote for 3 of the 5 nominees for the 2019 nominating committee. Nominees were Lyn Benavides, Kathy Foust, Paula McRill, Andrea Reinhart and Ali Weising-Pike. Results: Kathy Foust was named Chair, with Andrea Reinhart and Ali Weising-Pike also serving on the committee. This committee will nominate officers and directors for next year. President, Vice President and Secretary may continue on for another year. A new Treasurer will be needed as Barb Wilson will have reached the end of her term limit (4 years). We will also need 2 directors. Treasurer’s report/Finance, Proposed 2018-19 Budget: Finance Committee Chair Carol Metzger was out sick today. Barb Wilson distributed and discussed pro- posed budget. Barb also distributed March 1 - 30 Fund Balance, P&L by Class June 1, 2017 – March 28, 2018, Budget vs. Actual June 2017 - May 2018 as of March 31, 2018. Barb started the discussion saying dues are based on having 36 members. We know what our geranium sales will be and we had a wonder- ful nut and candy sale ($5600 less expenses of $2850). Our meeting facility fee is $500 to the museum. We don't know at this time what our style show will bring but we made $11,000 in 2017. Convention fund will be back to $1000 from the general fund and $500 from the service fund. Karen Flanagan noted that scholarships had come out of geranium sales but this proposed budget now pools the money so scholarships and agencies receive funding from our gross less expenses. In June 2017 we paid the 3 agencies out of last year's budget. Fellowship took the biggest decrease in this proposed budget, cut $200 to make it balance; they are far below in using their budget at this time. The finance committee will make recommendations about how to spend money beginning in June. NEW BUSINESS/COMMITTEE REPORTS: Style Show: Maile Doyle presented the facility layout. Their final meeting was 4/2. Attendees should fill out their ticket before arrival as the ticket will go into a drawing. Jodi DeVore sent out another email blast. Cost to vendors is 10% of their sales. Contact Lisa Loughman for additional tickets or turning in unsold ones; there will be a “Will Call” for pick ups that night. Assembly of foods will begin at 3:00. Scholarship/Awards: Young Women in Public Affairs has been awarded. Make sure that Women of Achievement nominees are eligible for the award. Service, Kristi Bryant: 5 Spring Break Baskets for Hope House and 6 Easter Baskets for Open Arms. Advocacy/ZSN: Take Back the Night at U. Findlay is Tuesday, April 10.
