Congratulations to Garrett Rieck and The School of Personal and Professional Learning! 3

Coronavirus Update Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced on Monday, March 15th that the County has now met the threshold for the “red tier” assignment according to the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. • To stay in the red tier, County case rates must be at or below 7 new cases per 100,000 with test positivity rate at or below 8% for two weeks. • This week, the County’s adjusted case rate is now 4.1 cases per 100,000 people with a test positivity rate of 2.0%. • The state’s structure allows counties to be more restrictive and move more slowly than the state in reopening if they wish. For example, in the red tier, the state allows retail to operate at 50% while some counties already in the red tier have chosen to open retail to 25% capacity. • Additional details at CDPH website: Blueprint Activity and Business Tiers March 2021 (ca.gov) . 5

It is recommended to continue to offer virtual or asynchronous studies so students can continue to learn. • Libraries will be allowed at 25% capacity to offer study and support sessions and dining services are open based on county guidelines. • Indoor dining is allowed at 25% of the dining hall or 100 students – whichever is smaller, but outdoor dining is still recommended. • LACDPH hopes to have most students vaccinated by the end of the semester. • International students can come as soon as institutions can offer in-person credit courses. • Outside events are allowed at 25% capacity with all protections (face coverings, social distancing).
