"Saare Jehan se Achha Hindustan Hamara!"

W e all felicitate our glorious nation and proudly say we are Indians!
To commemorate India's 71 years of Independence, we at RBK International Academy
celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and pride! We all understand that it is
of paramount importance to instil the feeling of national pride at an early age. To symbolise
their patriotic feelings and show their respect to our freedom fighters who helped to bring
us our freedom and our Indian army men who help to keep us free and safe; our EYP kids
dressed as one of them and gave some inspiring speeches with confidence and command!
We had 'Zansi ki Rani,' Gandhiji, Narendra Modiji, Madam Kama and our brave soldiers
amongst us to name just a few. It was heartwarming to see these little ones displaying such
finesse in their walk and talk; they showed complete ownership of the roles they were
playing. Great Job! Our learners had further enhanced experience of the event when they
learned the significance of the tri-coloured Indian flag understanding the importance of
each colour and Ashok chakra used in the Indian flag. Their teachers presented an energetic
dance performance on the medley of patriotic songs. It was a truly memorable celebration
for our EYP kids!

C aring is a vital skill that the children
need for play and learning all
throughout their childhood, and it is a
skill they will carry into adulthood. To
exhibit this learner profile and to make
the students realize the value of
“Caring”, Ms. Sandra discussed varied
practical ways of being thoughtful and
kind towards their loved ones. They
were also explained on how they could
be sensitive towards people around
them which would enable them to
inculcate the attitude of tolerance. As a
follow up, the students were
encouraged to write down 5 names of
people towards whom they would be
caring.

                                     Role play presentation: Grade 4
R ole play is a learning structure that allows students to apply their learning content in a fun way and at the same
time give evidence of their in-depth understanding.
The students of Grade 4 had a role play activity wherein they enacted various scenarios based on good and bad
behaviour in groups, which was peer assessed by their friends who gave them a fair feedback. This technique served as
an excellent tool that provided an opportunity for students to interact with their peers, enhanced their communication
skills and boosted their morale.

Le Jour de l'indépendance
                                                                                                  MYP

IBDP Students get insights on Studies at the LSBU
Mr.Roman Reda, Co-Founder of IN-Country India, visited the RBK International Academy to brief the
students on study opportunities at the London South Bank University, and the UK in general. The
interactive session was held in the Secondary library and was attended by IBDP 1 students accompanied

There was a general presentation on the ramifications of Brexit and what it may mean to international
students, with a focus on Indian students. The was followed by a talk on International Relations.
Mr Reda underscored the quality of the programmes offered at the LSBU, stressing that it was a career-
oriented university with a wide range of courses on offer. Another selling point is the low fee charged
compared to other western destinations. Students signed up to receive further information directly from
the university.
The session was interactive and was wrapped up with a general discussion on life in London.

IBDP Students Try Their Hand at Baking Start-ups

T he Institute of Business and Finance -Delhi, once again brought their unique workshop presentation
model – Bake Off – The Marketing Workshop to RBK International Academy.
The idea was to form competing groups that would come up with the best marketing strategies for a hard
to please customer. This gave the students practical insight into the marketing process, as well as a
demonstration of the learning process expected at the ISBF which is a hands-on training institution.
The participating groups were drawn from grades 10, 11, and 12. The participants enjoyed the experience,
racing to beat the clock and the constantly changing market environment. Those who did not adapt were
left behind.
The workshop was led by an experienced faculty member, Professor Soumitra Moorkherjee, and
Mr. Armanath Mondal -Workshop coordinator ISBF.

Reflection ……
17th August 2018 was a day of celebration in RBK, it was Investiture Ceremony Day. On this day few of us
(the DP2 students) were promoting the book 'Jal Chalisa' written by Ramesh Goyal in order to spread
awareness about the wide spread problem of water scarcity. We explained to parents about the
condition of water in today's world and what it would lead to in future if we don't begin to conserve it.
We had made two charts which contained quotes related to this issue. We provided parents with a free
copy of the book and also asked them to spread the word; telling them that this book is also available
online on Water Portal India (Hindi), Yahoo, facebook, Google, Youtube.com/jal Chalisa. It was an event
through which we personally learnt a lot about water scarcity and left us in a thought of how we were
contributing to the wastage of water. Parents of our RBK generously donated money for this noble cause.
