Your weekly news and community updates from the Town of Webster To receive this newsletter via email, please visit: ci.webster.ny.us/585/Town-Newsletter January 24, 2022 You may have noticed our Highway crews out last week shelving the snowbanks. We shelf/bench the snowbanks to make more room for future snowfall. By doing this, future snowfall has a place to unload, and it also improves sight distance, especially at intersections. You will see our crews out shelving the banks when the temps are warmer, to take advantage of the snowmelt. When the temps drop, the snowbanks will freeze solid, making shelving difficult. For residents that have snow stakes placed along the roadway, stakes may become vulnerable and subject to damage from shelving. The Town does not repair or replace damaged stakes placed in the Town’s right-of-way by homeowners. If a resident chooses to place snow stakes along the roadway, we ask that they refrain from using metal stakes, as fiberglass stakes are more conducive to the snow removal process. Thank you! 1
