TRAINING PROGRAM FOR FUTURE LEADERS 2020/2021 1. Introduction and objectives of the program Introduction Agirre Lehendakaria Center (ALC) is a Social Innovation laboratory based at the UPV/EHU (Euskampus). The center is a collaborative network initiative promoted by Agirre Lehendakaria Fundazioa, the University of the Basque Country-Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, Columbia University and Setton Hall. Its main objective is to reflect on the process of social and economic transformation experienced by the Basque society and to experiment with new models of sustainable human development. What Basque society has achieved so far has been very important, but AÑC is aware of the great challenges that lie ahead in the coming years. The economic crisis, the new industrial revolution, the trends leading to increased social inequality and the profound political changes at the international level are all elements that indicate a profound change with respect to the environment we have known in recent decades. Research carried out by LAC, in collaboration with its international partners, shows that the model of human development built by Basque society in recent decades cannot be understood as a series of disconnected interventions, but rather as a true movement of socio-economic transformation. For LAC, it is particularly relevant to understand the cultural factors (K) of this type of transformation process. With the purpose of sharing this knowledge, ALC presents the fourth edition of the "Training Program for Leaders of the Future". A common thread between the past, present and future of Basque society. ALC wants to make its contribution to this collective challenge. To do so, proposes to learn from the past, to value the most positive points and to analyse critically the areas to be improved, in order to project them into the future. The researchers developed by ALC, in collaboration with its international partners, show that what was achieved was not only the result of a well-planned and executed sequence of interventions, but also the consequence of a unique and differentiated system of values that made possible to take a variety of anti-cyclical decisions in one of the most complicated periods in the history of the country. ALC considers this process as the cultural dimension of the Basque transformation process. Finally, it is remarkable that this year's program incorporates for the first time the participation of international experts. Our country has always been a country that has preserved its roots but, at the same time, it has been and continues being a country that is open to the world. That is why, if we want to build our own model in the world, it is essential to know and learn from other experiences. Main objectives - Sharing the knowledge on the Basque sustainable human development model. - To build a network of Basque young professionals interested in social innovation. - To enrich the current debate on the future challenges of Basque society. 2
