2020-2021 Ted Rogers School of Management Graduate Entrance Awards Full-time The Ted Rogers School of Management Graduate Entrance Awards are available to MBA applicants who have applied to full-time graduate studies at the Ted Rogers School of Management for the Fall of 2020. The criteria for the awards are based on demonstrated excellent academic achievement, extracurricular involvement in the community, work experience and unmet need. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, landed immigrants or protected persons who have been issued a Protected Persons Status Document (PPSD). HIGHLIGHTS • Up To $15,000 each WHO CAN APPLY? Budget Form Guidelines Please read these guidelines before completing and submitting your budget form. It is important to note that this information will be verified; the misrepresentation of information may result in the disqualification of your application. All resources and expenses on your budget form should be listed, in full, for each of the terms indicated regardless of when the budget is being submitted. For example, if you are submitting your budget in winter, please include your fall resources and expenses as well. Full-Time Graduate Students • Submit a 12-month (September 1 to August 31) budget and check off all terms in which you will be enrolled in studies. Educational Expenses If you feel that some of your expenses are particularly high, please indicate a rationale for this in your written statement. Expenses included in the budget should be for individual expenses directly related to the costs of your education. • Tuition Fees: enter the tuition amount for the total number of study periods included in the budget (based on the study periods outlined above). o If you are unsure, you can use the “Fees and Enrollment Confirmation” tool under the “Student Fees” section in your Student Centre on RAMSS. • Books and supplies: only include supplies that are required for the completion of your program (for examples: iClicker, scientific calculator, lab coats, equipment rentals, etc.) • Accommodation: only include accommodation expenses that are directly related to your study periods (i.e. please only submit eight months worth of accommodation costs if you are an undergraduate student). o If you are a student living at home and paying rent to a parent, please indicate this in your written statement. • Transportation: transportation costs are related to your commute to/from campus, or to your internships/field placements related to your program. • Telephone and Internet: indicate these costs, if applicable. • Food: Indicate these costs here, if applicable. • Personal: only include individual personal expenses (i.e. laundry, clothing, health and dental expenses not covered by the student health and dental insurance, etc.).
Study Period Resources • Personal Savings: Include the amount you have saved to fund your education for the study period in question - it is expected that you contribute financially. • Government student aid (e.g. OSAP, out-of-province loans/aid, US financial aid, etc.) o Indicate the full amount of government student aid that you will be receiving, or have been assessed to receive, for your indicated study period. o Please include both grant and loan funding that you will be receiving. 2020-2021 Ted Rogers School of Management TERMS AND CONDITIONS - SCHOLARSHIP/FELLOWSHIPS/AWARDS GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS A. General Terms and Conditions To accept the offer of a Ryerson scholarship, fellowship or award, you must agree to these terms and conditions by signing and returning one copy to your Program Administrator. If you are an incoming student, you must also accept your Offer of Admission by the confirmation deadline, or the funding offer will be withdrawn. An offer of Ryerson funding is not transferable to another graduate program. Registration: You must maintain full-time enrolment, be actively engaged in full-time academic pursuits and be in attendance in your current graduate program at Ryerson during every month of the term in which you have received a payment. Should you withdraw, transfer to part-time status or fail to complete the term, you will be required to repay the award. Funds must be returned for any term(s) in which you are not enrolled. Completion, Withdrawal, Interruption, Leave of Absence: If you anticipate completing your program, withdrawing, interrupting or taking a leave of absence from your full-time academic studies during the term of your award for any reason, you must notify your Program Administrator as soon as possible so that Ryerson can make these adjustments in a timely manner. In the case of withdrawal, you must also proceed with the withdrawal process. Withdrawal during a term in which a graduate student has received a Ryerson scholarship, fellowship or award will require repayment of this funding based on the Ryerson University tuition refund policy: i. Full repayment if withdrawal occurs before the final date to withdraw and be eligible for full refund of fees. ii. 50% repayment if withdrawal occurs before the final date to withdraw and be eligible for 50% refund of fees. iii. No repayment required if withdrawal is after the 50% refund withdrawal deadline date. iv. OGF and Rogers Fellowship: You must maintain full-time enrolment and attendance in your program at Ryerson during EVERY MONTH of the term in which you have received a payment. Should you withdraw, transfer to part-time status or fail to complete the term, you will be required to repay the OGF or Rogers Fellowship. Award holders who complete their degree requirements (e.g. submit/defend their thesis, complete their courses, etc.) will continue to receive their award until the end of their current term.
Scholarship/Fellowship/Award Renewal: A scholarship/fellowship/award is only tenable for the period defined in the offer. At the Master’s level, award recipients will automatically be considered for funding in the second year of a two-year program (funding offered would vary in duration from one term to three terms based on the expected time to completion associated with the program). At the Doctoral level, award recipients will automatically be considered for funding in subsequent years (one to two years in addition to the funding offered in the first year). OSAP: If you apply for OSAP, please do not declare your RGF, RISS, OGF or RGDA funding amount on your OSAP application as Ryerson does this on your behalf. If your funding changes in any way throughout the academic year - whether it is reduced, increased, rescinded or otherwise altered in any way - you must notify Ryerson's Financial Assistance Department (via the ServiceHub) as soon as possible. Employment: You may accept research or graduate teaching assistantships, or other employment up to an average of 10 hours per week or 130 hours per term or 390 hours per academic year. You must maintain full time academic enrolment. B. Additional Terms and Conditions Ted Rogers School of Management Graduate Entrance Scholarship You must remain in academic good standing, with no disciplinary notices, as well as a full course load (3 courses minimum) in your program of study in the MBA program to remain eligible for the scholarship. Disbursement of funds: Payment and RAMSS Fees Account: Scholarship payments will begin in the term that your scholarship was approved to begin and will be paid to you in two equal instalments by the third week of classes in the in the Fall Term and again in the Winter term through your fees account (RAMSS) after your term enrolment has been confirmed. It is a Ryerson policy that scholarship funds must flow through your student account. This process ensures that a T4A for income tax purposes is automatically generated. They will first credit towards any outstanding balances. If funding remains in credit you must request a refund through your RAMSS account, then a cheque will be sent to your current mailing address on RAMSS – KEEP YOUR MAILING ADDRESS CURRENT. If your cheque goes to an out-dated address, it may take up to two months to re-issue a missing cheque. If there is an outstanding balance payable, you are responsible for paying this by the end of the month, or late fees will be charged on the outstanding balance.
Please ensure that your funding has been correctly applied to your RAMSS fees account for the tenure of your award. If there are any discrepancies discovered with the administration of your funding, you must contact your program immediately. By signing this form, I confirm that I have read, understood, and will abide by the Terms and Conditions above, and any other Terms and Conditions that are associated with my award. I HEREBY SWEAR THAT I WILL BE ENGAGED FULL-TIME IN ACADEMIC PURSUITS DURING EVERY MONTH THAT I AM RECEIVING THIS FUNDING, AND I UNDERSTAND THAT I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAYING THE FUNDING IN FULL, SHOULD I VIOLATE THIS AGREEMENT.
