World Class Sport Science Program Training and Online Services for Amateur and Professional Boxing 2016 Brochure
Do you want 2016 to be your year? Training with Boxing Science will help you develop world level fitness, allowing you to fulfil your boxing potential and be the best boxer you can be. Boxing Science is a unique organisation that has delivered a range of sport science programs at Sheffield Hallam University to over 100 competitive amateur and professional boxers of different ages and abilities, taking performances to the next level. It’s not just lifting weights and running for miles! Our programs improve strength, speed and fitness to develop explosive, dynamic boxers that can work at high intensities and last the distance. Boxing Science training methods are supported by scientific research and are tailored to the individual. We use a range of movement and conditioning drills so improved physical characteristics transfers to a better, more dominant boxing performance. World class fitness testing, in-depth analysis and detailed monitoring allows us to carefully structure programs for boxers to push hard, improve weaknesses, develop ‘super strengths’ and taper effectively so that they reach optimal fitness levels on fight night. Train Smart, Push Hard, Fight Easy Our world class testing allows the team to provide an in-depth analysis comprehensive analysis of a boxer’s physical profile. This helps build an effective program around the individuals’ strengths and areas for improvement. Our programs have seen some fantastic results, including 18% increase in aerobic fitness, 20% increase in estimated punching force and 32% improvement in lower body force. Low cost strength and conditioning training sessions for boxers and combat athletes of all ages and abilities. This offers boxers a cheap and flexible way to get involved with the program. The Saturday sessions (10.30-12.00pm) tick all the boxers, starting with drills to improve movement and co-ordination, S&C to increase strength and speed, then finish with a conditioning circuit to develop fitness. _

Kell Brook | IBF Welterweight World Champion In the summer of 2012, Sheffield Hallam University sport science officer Dave Hembrough and sport physiologist Alan Ruddock were assigned to deliver sport science services to world welterweight contender Kell Brook. Structured strength and conditioning programs and effective running conditioning were put in place to make Kell fitter, faster and stronger. In August 2014, Alan traveled stateside to ensure Kell was in prime physical condition to take the IBF Welterweight World Championship Title from Shawn Porter.
