Year 10 College and Careers News This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY Reaseheath News - YEAR 10 TASTER SESSIONS We are really sad not to be able to offer our usual 3 days of Year 10 Tasters this year. It is a really difficult time for Year 10 students and we appreciate that if they do come into school during the coming weeks the priority must be a focus on their GCSE studies. Therefore, we have decided to run one virtual session on July 1st between 1pm-5pm (we envisage it will take approx. an hour to view the content so they can join at any point between 1pm-5pm). The aim of this session is for them to familiarise themselves with the college, the courses we have on offer and their options post GCSE's. During the session they will be able to view presentations from our Principal Marcus Clinton, Kenny Nolan our dedicated careers adviser and ourselves, the school liaison team. There will also be an opportunity to gain information on learning support, transport, accommodation as well as to view videos from our lecturing teams. If you have any students who would like to join us on 1st they can register their interest by visiting www.reaseheath.ac.uk/year-10. We do hope to offer these students an onsite experience once they are in Year 11.
Moreton Hall – Your Future Choices 3rd July at 9.30am (Year 10 and Year 11) Moreton Hall Careers Team will be hosting a virtual event for students at The Corbet School offering impartial advice on: · choosing the right A levels · specialist subject requirements · university applications other · post-A level options. The focus is on students who are thinking or planning to study at A Level, and therefore vocational courses and level 2/3 apprenticeships will not be covered. Whilst the main focus is Year 10 and choosing A Levels, Year 11 students might also find the event beneficial to consider their course choices and university applications. Mrs Smith will also be attending this event. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about choosing their A Levels and we hope to have some students who are currently studying A Levels available discuss their experiences. Please note that whilst this is delivered by Moreton Hall, the focus will not be on Moreton Hall as a place to study. If you would like to take part, please email Mrs Smith (nicola.smith4@corbetschool.net) Virtual Work Experience Opportunities Hunter Bevan In view of Work Experience being cancelled, Hunter Bevan, a local Graphic Design firm, have kindly put together a couple of ‘virtual work experience’ briefs which can be downloaded from their website for students interested in graphic design or marketing. KUDOS ACTIVITY Please can pupils ensure they have reviewed the ‘My Future’ ‘My Personality’ and the ‘My Skills’ questionnaires on Kudos before the end of term. To do this please follow the below instructions: How to generate your up to date Career List on Kudos. Prior to starting this activity, you will need your Kudos log in, if you do not have this please contact Mrs Smith.
