PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Thank you for your co-operation with the updated advice around students whom have cold or flu like symptoms staying at home and being COVID tested before returning to school. We are implementing the advice provided by NSW Health and NSW Education. I acknowledge this situation may cause difficulty for some families. Recognising Our Other Support Staff I mentioned last week that this week is SASS recognition week. Our SASS include administration staff, School Learning Support officers and our General Assistants. Our SLSOs enjoyed a morning tea put on by staff this week. Our Administration and grounds staff enjoyed breakfast at Malibu. I also wanted to take this chance to recognise some of our other support staff whom don’t fit under the SASS banner but contribute to our school. Julie Reynolds, our School Wellbeing Officer (Chaplain), is a great support to students and families. Kathy Rudd, my administration support person for my role with the NSW Primary Principals’ Association, does an amazing job. Maria, Jim and Seon Yeong, our cleaners, who always go above and beyond to keep our school clean. We also thank them for their contribution to making our school a great school. Change to 1FG Ms Horne will continue on 1FG on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. However, Mrs Dickinson will take over on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, Mrs Doolan is unable to continue teaching on Thursday and Friday due to moving house. Mrs Dickinson and Ms Horne have been working together to make this change as smooth as possible. Selective High School & OC Test Congratulations to our four Year 6 students whom have been offered places at selective high schools. Also to two further students whom sit on the reserve list. For those Year 4 students, whom have applied for the Opportunity Class (OC), the test for this class has been pushed back to November. Remediation Works Continue The remediation work to some of our classrooms has continued with 4M and 3H being completed this week. Next week 3CT and 3B will have their classrooms done. Canteen & Uniform Shop Our canteen and uniform shop continue to operate for online orders and cashless transactions. Athletics Carnival Ribbons At last week’s Zoom assembly students were ‘virtually’ awarded their ribbons from our athletics carnival. Students then received their actual ribbon in their classroom. Congratulations to all of our age champions and ribbon winners. Congratulations to our winning house Konrads. Michael Burgess Principal
Ensure your child always gets in and out of the car through the Safety Door. This is the rear kerb-side door of the car. Never allow your child to get in and out of the car on the traffic side. Your child should remain in the car until an adult opens the Safety Door. Help your child buckle up. Make sure their seatbelt is not twisted. It is a good habit to make sure all passengers are securely buckled into a child car seat, booster seat or seatbelt before you start the car. Kindergarten 2021 Enrolments are now being taken for students starting Kindergarten in 2021. Enrolment forms can be collected from our school front office, or you can enrol online via our school website. To ensure that all relevant information can be sent to enrolling families, we are hoping that all enrolment forms can be returned to the office by the end of August. Brooke Walkaden Relieving Assistant Principal
Sensory Oasis Kits Provided by Vinnies We were fortunate to receive two Sensory Oasis Kits (as pictured) from St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies). These kits will be a great support to students at our school who have sensory needs. The kits include a teepee, fidget toys, cushions, timers, books, blankets, pillows and noise cancelling headphones. We are extremely grateful to Vinnies for their generosity to our students. Our Learning Support Team will distribute the kits. These resources are a great asset to students with sensory needs, the benefits include: -helping them to relax and calm down; -reducing anxiety; -developing fine motor skills; and -promoting focus; Thank you Vinnies! Regards Tracey McKeown Deputy Principal
ADMINISTRATION Enrol Online We are excited to announce that we will be rolling out the new Online Enrolment System from Monday, 18 May 2020. The Online Enrolment System is designed to provide flexibility for parents to submit an Application to Enrol in a NSW Government School online at a time that best suits you. The application can be accessed on all browsers and mobile devices including iOS and Android. You can start the online enrolment process by going onto our website https://terrigal- p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/enrolment.html The online application process is currently restricted to: • Enrolments into local schools only • Children who are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents • Children who live in NSW. We offer our support and encourage you to complete your application to enrol online. If however, you do not feel comfortable completing an application online, a paper copy will be available for collection from the front office or can be downloaded from the Department’s going to a public school site. Years 4, 5 and 6 camps have been cancelled. All payments have now been refunded. Please feel free to give me a call, if you have any questions. Ulrike Myers Administration Manager
