your irish experience begins here! Day 1: T hursday – Galway Begin your tour in Galway, the City of the Tribes. Galway is world famous in arts and culture and will become the European Capital of Culture for 2020. It also has an extensive festival calendar and is home to the Galway International Arts Festival, The Galway Races, the Galway International Oyster Festival and so many more. Over the past number of years, it has also been described as the “Gourmet Capital of Ireland” and you can enjoy many of its wonderful culinary delights on our food tour. On our tour you will be invited to taste the very best produce from Galway’s local artisan food community. Galway is a medieval city and its streetscapes date back over hundreds of years. You will find a bit of history on every corner and after you discover its many secrets, you are free to enjoy an evening of entertainment, great food and craic in this much celebrated city. total driving time: 1 hour 40 minutes
Day 2: Friday – T he Aran Islands & Westport After a short drive to Rossaveal pier, we will sail across Galway Bay to the Aran Islands. We will arrive on the rugged Inishmore Island, the largest of the three Aran Islands. We will then explore the island by jaunting on the narrow roads which run along the many walled fields and take us to the historic stone fort of Dún Aenghus, which lies 100m over the ocean before making our way back to the mainland. No doubt you will pick up “cúpla focail” (a few words) of Irish as we experience the natural beauty of this wild Atlantic treasure. Our tour will then return by ferry to Rosaveal Pier where we continue onto the stunning town of Westport. The journey to Westport will allow us to take in the breathtaking views of Connemara National Park and the Lost Valley which is part of the famous Famine Trail. Westport, in County Mayo, is a destination town for both tourists and locals alike and is a favourite “staycation” destination for Irish people. Unwind with some local craft beers and excellent food in Westport Town. For those seeking the famous Irish “craic“, there is plenty to be found at a traditional Irish music session in Matt Molloy’s bar. total driving time: 2 hours 20 minutes
Day 3: Saturday – Westport - Donegal Wake up fresh and enjoy a wonderful walking tour of Westport town and guided tour of Westport House. Westport House is surrounded by the majestic expanse of Clew Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and Ireland’s holy mountain Croagh Patrick. Embrace a tour culminating in 300 years of Irish heritage in this beautiful manor and enjoy a myriad of attractions throughout the grounds. This will be an unforgettable experience. After lunch, we leave Westport and head north towards Yeat’s County. County Sligo is called Yeat’s County after the celebrated Irish poet, William Butler Yeats. Our afternoon will take in the wilds of Sligo before journeying North West to the Gaeltacht of County Donegal. A Gaeltacht is a place in Ireland where the Irish language is still commonly spoken. Our accommodation this evening will be in the picturesque town of Ardara. total driving time: 3 hours
Day 4: Sunday – Londonderry We will start the day with a magnificent drive over the Glengesh Pass, visit Maghera Beach, caves and the Assaranca Waterfall. We will spend time exploring the stone fort of Grianán of Aileach, embrace the stunning views from the hilltop in Inishowen, before crossing the border of Northern Ireland. Our next stop is Londonderry, Northern Ireland’s second largest city, which is steeped in rich history. A must-see is the old walled city, which lies on the west bank of the River Foyle. You can choose to take a walking tour of the city or simply have some free time to roam the streets discovering exciting shops, eateries and historical places at every turn. total driving time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Day 5: Monday – T he Giant’s Causeway Today will be both a test of mental strength and a celebration for your soul. Feel the exhilaration of the air beneath your feet as you cross Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge against the breath-taking backdrop of the Causeway Coastal Route. This is guaranteed to get your heart racing for the day, but the thrills don’t stop there. Our afternoon will bring us to one of the most photographed sights on Earth, the Giant’s Causeway on County Antrim’s coastline. Fans of the acclaimed Game of Thrones will be overwhelmed when we take a sneak peek at one of its most famous filming locations, The Dark Hedges. Our day finishes in the city of Belfast where you will spend a wonderful evening browsing this scenic city. total driving time: 3 hours 15 minutes
Day 6: Tuesday – Belfast The whirlwind journey through Ireland continues and we will finish the trip with a magical tour of Belfast. A black cab intimate city tour is the only way to see and learn about this wonderful city. Or you can also decide to take a more relaxing option and explore a city full of the coolest pubs, superb shopping and enough eateries to satisfy every taste. After lunch, we will give you the full Titanic experience at Titanic Belfast. This splendid interactive visitor center was voted the world’s leading tourist attraction in 2016. Prepare to be moved by the wonderful stories told about the world’s most famous ship. Our guides will journey back with you to our bustling capital city, Dublin, armed with recommendations of things to see and do if you have a little time left. total driving time: 2 hours 30 minutes
