                                         Help at Carnivals:

A large amount of parent help is needed at carnivals in order for them to happen. These are roles such
as parent helpers, surf officials and age group managers. Parents of athletes in the Oceans squad will
be asked to undertake these roles at certain carnivals over the summer.

At local and regional carnivals Whangamata is the third biggest club in terms of numbers but doesn’t
supply any qualified surf officials to help run the carnival. This season we need to change this to
avoid penalty’s that may arise.
Information about surf official courses can be found online at www.slsnz.org.nz

                                    Club Sport Policies:

The club has a number of sport policies that you need to be aware of if you intend to compete.

Note: Competition team selection:

       the following criteria,

   - Experience of the athlete.

                                             Membership:

the additional sport fee.

                                                 Safety

The 2013/14/15 season has been reviewed by SLSNZ and to make the sport safer it is compulsory for
all competitors to now wear a fluoro vest at all training and competitions. There is no specific vest for
training so previous years vests can be worn but new competition vests will need to be purchased.
Competition vests can be purchased from the uniform shop. More info to come.

                                           User Pays policy

The club will be enforcing the “user pays policy” to all competitors. This includes competition entries,
gear allocation, “late entry fees” and swim fees.
It is expected that if a competitor enters an event and does not participate or remove entries before cut
off dates, they will still be liable for full costs.
This will also be applicable to competitors entering after cut off dates, and you will be expected to pay
in full, “late entry fees”
