Getting there • Car : 30 min drive from CERN – Big Parking at top is free 3hrs ?(5m walk) – Pay and display along the port’s roads. • Train : Pont Ceard – Every 15 min from Geneva Cointrin – 10 walk to port from station 23

Courses Offered by CNV ● Our partner club, the Club Nautique de Versoix (CNV), is offering special conditions to the YCC members taking its dinghy courses. ● Spring 2021: weekly dingy courses – YCC members : 480CHF (normally 600CHF) – Tuesday April 27 to June 15, from 6 pm to 9 pm (8 lessons). ● An advanced dinghy course on Fridays. – YCC members pay only 480CHF instead of 600CHF. ● Summer dinghy course, – YCC members pay only 300CHF. ● You can register as of March. – IMPORTANT contact Michel Chevallier YCC course coordinator, and NOT via the online form on the CNV web site 40

Dinghy Safety • Buoyancy aids – To be worn • No wetsuit – no lesson • Instructor is responsible – so she/he is in charge • Q boat driver – Overall go/no go 44
Teaching Options • RS500 teacher/student • Xenon/RS400 can be teacher plus two students • RIB + 1 or 2 dinghies (no teacher on board) 45
Typical Ycc Course Evening • Starts at 6pm prompt – Get there in advance, have a coffee at the buvette .. • 30 to 45 mins to rig and launch. • About 8pm the wind stops • Derigging and berthing, – another 30 mins • Debriefing at buvette, the Green Book – and occasion to share experiences with other students. 46

Dinghy Key • The test – Correct rigging and derigging of the boat – Launching and return to harbour – Sailing ability • Basic manoeuvres, tacking, gybing, stopping – Capsize – Lake rules • Priorities – Knots • Bowline, figure of 8, tie a cleat • Not obligatory to do the course 48

Dinghy Tuesdays • May (tbc) through to end of September • Open to all members of club, – sign up basis – Those who didn’t get on a course • Promotes dinghy sailing with different crew/skippers • Helps students gain experience • No free sailing – buoys set out 50
Dinghy Days • At the weekends • Normally two sessions per day • First two days, priority to YCC and CNV students • Successive ones open to all members of club • Mini regattas and general training 51
The Lake Gods Every year to ensure good wind we give gifts to the Lake Gods – Watches • Avoid wearing expensive watches – Corrective Glasses • Spare pair, Cord • Contact lenses – Sunglasses – Phones 52
Dinghy Sailing Equipment • Wetsuit (not Diving) – Not a shorty, – 3/5 mm long legs • Colder than normal start to year – 5mm • Protection on knees, elbows • Boots – Keep feet warm, protect them • Gloves – Without the tips – Wet hands are fragile, pulling wet sheets (ropes) • Splash Vest, Hat, Sunglasses, Sun cream – Not essential but practical 53
