EVENT PROGRAM DAY 1 Saturday 17th of April 2021 – AOCRA NSW State Titles Single Craft 7.30am RACE BRIEFING for all Juniors, Novice & Ultra Short Course races All craft need to be scrutineered by a safety officer prior to all events. 8am - Race 1: Juniors 2km for U12 - U14 & 4km for U16 & U19 9am – Race 2: Ultra Short & Novice 5km (Juniors may race at adult fee) 9.45am RACE BRIEFING for Short Course, all canoes must have been checked prior to racing. 10am - Race 3: Short Course & Classic/Heavy weight 12km (Juniors may race at adult fee) 1pm - Race 4: Down Winder 20 - 25km (experienced long course paddler only) Start from Gunnamatta or Kurnell depending on wind direction Presentation To be held at the Cook Café at 12 noon for morning races & At The Kurnell Sports & Recreation Club at 4pm for the Down Winder. ALL CRAFT MUST HAVE A, SPARE PADDLE, WATER, PHONE, LIFE JACKETS MUST BE WORN

Juniors ONLY: $15.00 P/P (includes OC1 Clinic & Cap) $30.00 OC2 ($15.00 P/P) Novice & Ultra Short: $20.00 P/P (includes OC1 Clinic) $40.00 OC2 ($20.00 P/P) Short Course: $30.00 P/P (includes OC1 Clinic) $60.00 OC2 ($30.00 P/P) Kurnell Cup ‘Down Winder’ $80.00 P/P (includes OC1 Clinic, all other races & race shirt) $160.00 OC2 ($80.00 P/P) Ski & Sup Registration for the Down Winder & 12km Short Course available AOCRA online www.aocra.com.au NB: all non–member cost is the race $fee + $8.00 (insurance) Age Divisions Age Division for Junior Competitors: Juniors: U12, U14, U16, U19 as per AOCRA Race rules, juniors U16 wishing to race in senior events must have their parents permission and coach written on the registration form. Age Division for Senior Competitors: Open, Master, Senior Master, Golden Master and Platinum Master as per the AOCRA regatta rules www.aocra.com.au There must be three (3) entries in each category to make a division for prizes No refunds will be given no matter what the reason.
Competitor Information Conditions of eligibility 1. Only a competitor who is a financial member of a club affiliated with AOCRA Inc. and is a current registered competitor with AOCRA Inc. can compete in any event. NB: Ski & SUP paddlers may enter as a non AOCRA Member and pay the extra insurance of $8.00 per entrant. 2. AOCRA Inc., the Race Director, or the Race Committee reserves the right to request proof of identity or age [i.e. ID card with photograph] of a competitor at any time. 3. The Race Committee reserves the right to be the arbiter in any dispute regarding eligibility and registration of competitors. The Race Directors decision is final. 4. The REGATTA RULES of the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association Incorporated shall apply. For full details of these rules, please refer to www.aocra.com.au 5. All OC1/2 will be required to carry a spare paddles, leg rope, YachtBot App on your mobile phone and wear a life jackets approved by AOCRA. All craft must be checked by an official scrutineer prior to racing. 6. V1 will require all of the above however leg ropes are not required to be worn for safety reasons. 7. A wrist band will be presented at the registration desk to be worn to race and be presentation at the Cook Café & the Kurnell Community Sports & Recreation Club for 10% discount of food and drinks. 8. Prizes will be awarded for all division where there are 3 or more entrants. The outright male & female winners of the down winder will be awarded the “Kurnell Cup” Trophy. 9. All juniors racing will be presented with a “Kurnell Cup Cap” these will be for sale on the day for $20 each. 10. All Down Winder race entrants will be given a “Kurnell Cup Race Top” to wear in the race, these will be for sale on the day for $40 each. 11. All entrants to the “Kurnell Cup” AOCRA NSW State Titles will be able to attend the OC1 clinic on Sunday for FREE!!
More Information Parking There will be parking at the western end of Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell, with plenty of area for you to unload your canoes to allow easy access to the beach. Please be mindful of the changes in speed limits driving into Kurnell on Captain Cook Drive. Amenities The Cook Café will be open for Coffee from 7am, there are many cafes along the foreshore in Kurnell, the Post Office , Milk House and at the National Park end of Kurnell near the park the Kurnell 1770 Bakery & Café , Endeavour Café and Effie's Fish & Chips The RECCAS for lunch and dinner. All these café’s in Kurnell provide a great variety of food and drinks to cater for your needs. There are public toilets in the Bonna Point Reserve, as well as the Cafés and Catamaran Club which will be maintained throughout the day. Safety & Covid Requirements Members of the Zone Committee and host club will be checking all canoes for safety requirement to race in the OC1/2 events. Canoes not meeting the AOCRA Safety Guidelines will not be able to race. Please use the QR Code on your phone as per NSW Covid Safe rules at all café’s that request this in Kurnell. Please respect others while using these premises and abide by their rules and regulations as current at www.nsw.gov.au If you are unwell please do not attend the event. Race Information Race Information PLEASE NOTE: Race courses subject to conditions on the day. All paddlers must stay at least 100m away from the Kurnell Wharf for your own safety heavy fines will apply if you don’t abide by this rule. You will be DQ’d if you paddle under or near the Wharf. Juniors will feature strongly at this event with the ‘Kurnell Junior Cup’ being run just for Juniors aged 10 to 18. We want to encourage all paddlers to bring their old and new canoes to get as many paddlers on the water. We will have a “Classic Division” in the Short Course for heavy weight canoes only. All paddlers must sign in with ID to get your wrist band, you must be registered to race prior to the event. No race entries will be taken on the day. All entrants to the Down Winder will receive a fluoro race shirt to wear in the race. Please register early and nominate a race size S, M, L, XL. There will be a staggered start for the Down Winder with the “Competitive Women” starting first followed by the “Crusty Cruiser” and then “Competitive Men” will start last. Presentations will be held in the COOK CAFÉ at 12 noon for all the morning races and at The Kurnell Sports & Recreation Club at 4pm for the “Kurnell Cup” Down Winder event. All entrants names will be places in a hat for some cool random prizes, you must be present to collect your prize. Please present your wrist band for a 10% discount on food and drinks at both venues on the day of the Kurnell Cup. Kurnell Outrigger Canoe Club
Maps of Junior Race 2K & 4K U12 & U14 Juniors will race 1 lap only! All other Juniors will race 2 laps. All Junior paddler will receive a gift on entry to the race.
Map for 5km Novice & Ultra Short Head east towards the first channel marker turn right staying at least 100m clear of the wharf at all times. Ama turn at the first turning marker head straight back down to the finish line.
12 KM Short Course Head east past the wharf keep at least 100m distance from it. Head straight out to sea to the turning marker and straight back. NB: Alternative course head 6km west towards the Novatel and straight back. There will be a “Classic Division” for heavy weight canoes.
KURNELL CUP DOWN WINDER Briefing: 11.30pm Race Start: 1.00pm (Direction is dependent on wind forecast) Distance: 20 - 25km The participants will enter via the Bonna Point Boat Ramp at the western end of the Kurnell beachfront. Participants will have their canoes scrutinised at this point for the mandatory safety equipment. (Lifejacket, leg rope and Mobile Phone/flare). Participants will paddle east towards Captain Cooks Landing Place where the start boat will be positioned. Participants will then paddle east out of Botany Bay past the Kamay Botany Bay National Park then travel SW towards the mouth of the Port Hacking River at Bass and Flinders Point. At this point they will travel west toward the southern end of Gunnamatta Bay, non-ama turn and travel north to the finish line at the end of last channel marker at the boat ramp. NB: Please note only experienced paddlers may race in the down winder, if you have never raced in a long course race before please do not enter for your own safety. NB: Alternative direction starts from end of the channel in Port Hacking and finishes at the Captain Cook Landing Place in Kurnell, then leisurely paddle back to the Bonna Point boat ramp
Staggered Starts • You will be given a 1, 2 or 3 depending on what start you are in below • 1. All Competitive Women & SUP will start first • 2. Crusty Cruiser & Mixed OC2 will start 10 min after the women. • 3. All Competitive Men & Ski paddlers will start 20 minutes after the women. (10 minutes after the Crusty Cruiser” • NB: Crusty Cruiser's are paddlers who are entering the race for fun, (you are also able to enter the any other race as part of the long course race entry) could be male or female wishing to just have a go at the downwinder whilst in a protected environment with safety.

Registration Location We will be set up just near the round about on the grassed area, and in the Catamaran Club if raining. Starts will be just right of Silver Beach dog beach across from the Catamaran Club. Start & Finish line Race Rego Setup Cook Catamaran Club CAFÉ
Directions From the South: From the Princes Highway, turn right into President Ave. Turn left into Kiora Rd then follow through and turn right into the Kingsway. Follow through & turn left into Taren Point Rd. Get into the right lane & turn right into Capt Cook Drive. Follow through to Kurnell. Go through the roundabout then take the first left (Silver Beach Rd). At the end, turn left into Prince Charles Parade and follow to the end. From the North: From the Princes Highway, turn off onto Rocky Point Rd at Kogarah. Follow into Taren Point Rd, over Georges River into Caringbah. Turn left into Capt Cook Drive. Follow through to Kurnell. Go through the roundabout then take the first left (Silver Beach Rd). At the end, turn left into Prince Charles Parade and follow to the end.
