With over 45-years of history, the GMA has become one of the most reputable and respected independent associations within the University of Western Australia (UWA) with over 1,800 members.
Our Black Tie Event Our annual Black Tie event is the most talked about alumni event within UWA Business School. The evening is hosted by GMA Patron, Dr. Michael Chaney AO to honor the achievements of GMA members, UWA Business School alumni and faculty staff and post-graduate MBA students. Our dinner will be held on Saturday 11 September 2021 at the University Club (UWA), in a sit-down dinner format. Guests to the event include: UWA Business School board members, ambassadorial council members and corporate partners, business leaders, postgraduate alumni and current students, UWA staff and most importantly our members. By sponsoring our annual Black Tie event, we will provide your organisation exposure and access to our members, Perth’s business elite, future leaders and the aspirational MBA and postgraduate students. We offer a range of packages options to support your organisation and welcome any queries regarding your inclusion.
Our Keynote Speaker Craig Challen is an Australian technical diver and cave explorer from Perth, WA. After commencing cave diving in the 1990s he was an early adopter of then rapidly-developing technologies such as closed-circuit mixed gas rebreathers. He has explored caves throughout Australia and New Zealand and around the world including China, Thailand, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands. Craig also has an avid interest in shipwreck diving and has explored sites over the last 15 years in the South China Sea, Solomon Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Mediterranean Sea, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Craig Challen SC, OAM A veterinary surgeon by profession, he is additionally an enthusiastic helicopter and aeroplane pilot. Heroic Thai Cave Rescue Diver 2019 Australian of the Year In July 2018 Craig participated in the Tham Luang cave rescue of 13 people in Thailand. For his contribution he was awarded the Star of Courage and the Medal of the Order of Australia. He was named as the 2019 Australian of the Year jointly with his long-standing dive partner Richard Harris.
