HECS – HELP Higher Education Loan Scheme • HECS-HELP is a loan scheme for eligible students enrolled in Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) to pay their student contribution amounts. It cannot be used for additional study costs such as text books. • Even though the Australia Government subsidises Commonwealth supported places, students still have to make a payment towards their education and this is known as the ‘student contribution’ amount. • You are required to begin repaying your accumulated HELP debt when your income is above the minimum repayment threshold, which is $51,957 for the 2018-19 income year. HELP repayment arrangements include compulsory repayments made through your income tax, and any voluntary repayments you choose to make. • https://www.studyassist.gov.au/help-loans-and-csps/hecs-help
