HENDERSON NORTH SCHOOL Monday 26 July 2021 Dear Whānau Welcome back to Term 3 2021. We hope you all had a lovely holiday and got to visit somewhere new in our beautiful country. Lots has been happening at school during the break - our Admin Block is looking great - the builders enjoyed 2 weeks of peace and quiet! Our caretaker, gardener and cleaners all do an amazing job of keeping our school looking great. Teachers have been planning and sorting out their classrooms for the new term and have done two days back at school learning about Lego and Maths. However for a school to be successful your children need to be here!! The Ministry of Education receives our attendance records everyday - they compare Henderson North School with other schools and know how well we are doing on punctuality and attendance. We have patterns in our school of Fridays being a particularly bad day when many children are missing; and a pattern of children being late every day - sometimes not arriving until 10.30am; and patterns of children being picked up early so missing an important part of the school day. Help us to be a successful school by making sure your child attends every day for the full day and arrives punctually. Please remember to check in at Room 13 if you are visiting the school. Stick to the paths and do not walk through the carpark and set a good example to our children. With all the wet weather there is plenty of mud around - a spare pair of clothes in your child’s bag is essential. We don’t currently have the facilities to clean children up or have spare clothes for them to wear.
HEALTHY SCHOOL LUNCHES - thank you for those who responded and have chosen to ‘opt out’ of the programme. We have not decreased our numbers just yet as they are promising a new menu - so we will wait! If you are providing a lunch for your child please remember to keep it healthy - no packaged foods and only water. If you have a 5 year old or know of a neighbour or family member who has one that is due to start school this year or next year please get in touch so we can ensure we have a space available for them. Scholastic Book Club brochures have been sent home. Individual Photos these will be taken on Wednesday 4th August - all children will be photographed. If you want sibling photos done or pre schoolers done a form will be sent home and is also attached to this newsletter.
