THE SPIRIT A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Continued from Page 2... Building Programme Construction of the new two-story extension to the Middle School Building is now well under way, with the all the initial services, foundations and slab in place. The steel frame will be delivered shortly, and it is hoped that the framework will be up before Christmas. The new building will house a much-needed Food and Hospitality centre downstairs and a Visual Arts centre upstairs. The building work is currently proceeding as planned, with completion expected towards the middle of Term 2, 2020. Planning for an extension to the current Trade Training Centre Building is now well underway. This will provide three more Middle/Senior School classrooms and more student toilet facilities. These are both very exciting developments, which will provide excellent facilities for our students. Uniform Shop Relocation We have recently relocated our Uniform Shop to the newly renovated SMOSHC House Garage. The space is much bigger and allows for easier parent access. We have also launched an online Uniform Shop platform, where parents/caregivers can order and pay for uniform online. Our online store can be found at: uniformshop.stmartins.sa.edu.au Thank You I would like to thank our students for another excellent year, our staff for their dedication and professionalism, our parents, P&F and volunteers for their incredible support, and the College Council and its Chairperson, Marianne Tucker, for their commitment and hard work. It has been another very successful year. We give thanks to God for the many blessings we have received and the wonderful learning opportunities our students have enjoyed. Christmas Greetings Good news from heaven the angels bring, Glad tidings to the earth they sing: To us this day a child is given To crown us with the joy of heaven (Martin Luther) I would like to take this opportunity to wish the entire College community a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. I pray that you enjoy a safe and restful holiday with family and friends. I look forward to seeing students back at school on Monday 28th January 2020. If you are leaving the St Martins family, may the Lord Bless you and keep you through your move and always. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, That whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Yours in Christ, Alan Connah Principal The Spirit | page 03

INDONESIA SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP SD HKI3 Last week three staff members from SD HKI3, our Indonesian sister school, visited St Martins for the first time. Ibu Purida - Principal, Erlany - Year 2 teacher and Rita - Year 5 teacher thoroughly embraced the opportunity to visit. Throughout their week here they experienced everything that Mount Gambier has to offer and what a typical week at St Martins entails. We hope they enjoyed their time at the College and the relationships that have been strengthened during their time here. "I found it interesting that their school is different. They go to school on Saturday." - By Emmy Moulden FB "I liked that they speak a different language. They have cool names." - Baylin Keeley FB "Last week some Indonesian teachers came to our school. They were from Siantar. Their names were Ibu Erlany, Ibu Purida and Ibu Rita. I really liked them in my classroom looking at and taking photos of our work. In learning support Ibu Erlany made me a thank you note. If you want to know them better Ibu Purida is the Principal, Ibu Erlany is a teacher of Year 2, and Ibu Rita is a teacher of Year 5." - By Austin Douglas 2B The Spirit | page 08
