The Bader Bugle Summer Term 3 twitter: @BaderPrimary 30TH April 2021 A message from Mr Hodgson The highlight of this week in Year 6 was without doubt, the Zoom visit by the award winning, author of Skellig, Mr David Almond. Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed him sharing his thoughts about books and reading with them and they even got to interview him, with every question asked being answered in detail. This experience has been something we have tried to make happen since 2018, so we were absolutely thrilled when it was possible, this week! Another treat for Year 6, today, when the Year 6 leaver’s hoodies arrived in school. They now will be able to wear them until they move onto their secondary school and pastures new. Extreme Hairstyles The school does not permit children to have extreme haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children and are not in keeping with the ethos of the school. This includes patterns shaved into the hair, excessive use of hair products and false hair. The definition of an extreme hairstyle is at the discretion of the Head Teacher. Any hair long enough to be tied back should be. There have been one or two occasions recently, when a hairstyle is borderline ‘extreme’. If I deem this to be the case, the child in question, unfortunately, will be sent home. Please consider this before allowing hairstyles that may fall into this category. Thank you for your support. Read for the Stars We continue to promote a love of reading in school and particularly at home. Our latest children to reach the sun and therefore receive a book, a certificate and a bookmark in our virtual assembly are:- Dalton Thomson, Zac Burton and Sirah Hussain – well done for reaching the sun a 2nd time! Chloe Brack, Ivy Rathbone and Katy Nelson – well done to these children for reaching the sun for the 1st time. Remember, we ask that children read a minimum of 4 times a week in Early Years and Key Stage 1, and 5 times a week in Key Stage 2 (up to the maximum of seven times a week). Parking at School Can we please be aware of parking across drives in Kintyre Drive. We have had a complaint that inconsiderate parking is causing a problem again. Dropping off & collecting are busy times but we still need to be courteous & considerate to our neighbours. Thank you for your support. The Salvation Project The Salvation Project is a local charity who support our community with donations of food hampers etc. We are very grateful for this support so we in turn support them with donations of tins etc. (especially at Harvest Festival time). Thank you @SalvationProje1 You can donate to the Salvation Project by bringing a tin or other non-perishable items into school with your child, or leave at reception. We continue to support this very worthwhile charity.
Pen Licence For children who have beautifully formed, joined handwriting, their reward is a ‘Pen Licence’. This allows them to use a pen for all writing in school. Also, they are presented with a certificate in assembly, are given a pen licence card to carry with them and are given a special place in the hall on our ‘Roll of Honour’ board. This week’s lucky pupils to receive their licence, as endorsed by the Pen Inspector General (me) are: Isla Bowe, Jasmine Cunningham, Jake Burton and Grace Stephenson. Uniform I am pleased to see the majority of our children returning to school in full school uniform (as per our uniform policy/Home School Agreement). The only slight disappointment is the footwear of a small number of children. Footwear should be plain black trainers or shoes. This is not an onerous task, we feel, and is in keeping with the spirit we encourage. Children who regularly wear inappropriate footwear will need to wear black plimsolls inside if this is a recurring problem. Thank you for your support with this. We are proud of our school and our school motto of ‘Aiming High’. We are also proud of our simple uniform policy Super which Spellers gives spirit, identity and reduces bullying and peer pressure. We are trying to be understanding as regards We are having uniform at the amoment, really bigespecially push on spelling in school the children this6 year, in Year as we who will be recognise leaving usitinisasomething few months.
