April 2021 Where Families Come To Play WELCOME BACK GOLFERS! We want to welcome all of our golfers back to the club for another year of great golf on one of the best courses in Westmoreland County. We are here to serve you. Chuck and his team in the pro shop look forward to welcoming you back to the course and getting you ready for another season. Tobin and his staff have been working on the golf course to ensure that it is in top condition and ready for play. Make a tee time and come out to play to see the results of our bunker improvement and tree removal projects that took place over the winter. For those that qualify, the new forward tee on hole number eleven is now open! We look forward to many fun rounds of golf with friends and family and a few good competitions to keep things interesting.
Hello Greensburg Country Club members and supporters, I would like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Brad Ladik, and I am the new General Manager at Greensburg Country Club! I appreciate you all having me here, I am excited about this opportunity! I have been meeting with the Greensburg employee Team my first couple days and greatly look forward to leading and working with the Team while serving you! I also look forward to meeting all of you in person! If you have not been to the Club recently it really looks great, the new carpeting is phenomenal, and I am looking to continue the momentum that the Club has built recently. When the membership, owners, com- mittees, and management work cohesively together we can make meaningful progress for the Club. I have extensive experience in working at excellent Clubs in Western PA and am happy to be at Greensburg Country Club. The past two years I have been the General Manager at Sunnehanna Country Club in John- stown. Prior to that I was the Assistant General Manager at The Pittsburgh Golf Club for over five years. I also worked at Oakmont Country Club for nearly nineteen years. Some of the accomplishments over the years I have been involved in include tournaments such as the 1994 U.S. Men’s Open, 2003 U.S. Amateur, 2007 U.S. Men’s Open, the 2010 Women’s U.S. Open, the Sunnehanna Amateur, and the 2016 U.S. Men’s Open. I had the opportunity to go to Argentina and Chile to study the wines of those regions which proved to pay huge dividends when Angel Cabrera won the U.S. Open in 2007. The Team treated the underdog Cabrera to some of the finest wines of Argentina at the Club during his vic- tory dinner! While developing my education in wine I obtained the Court of Master Sommelier Certification and Certified Specialist of Wine Certification. In 2013 I obtained Certified Club Manager Certification which is a benchmark for anyone in the Club business. This was paid for by first obtaining the Willmoore H. Kendal Scholarship thru the Club Managers of America Foundation. But what I bring to Greensburg Country Club is not past accomplishments or certifications, it is most im- portantly a passion for the hospitality business. One of my beliefs is “Hospitality is a Way of Life”! I also be- lieve in the TEAM concept (together everyone achieves more). We will be continuing to plant the seeds for us to continue to grow. We will do this as a Team focused on training, education, attention to detail and sharing the vision of “Greensburg Country Club Excellence”. I also am happy to announce the latest easing of restrictions announced by Governor Wolf starting on April 4th. At that time, we will be allowed to seat up to 75% capacity indoors and serve alcohol without food, while practicing safe distancing. We will continue to require mask wearing, stringent cleaning, and other health measures here at the Club. But this is a big step in getting things going in the right direction. I believe 2021 will be a great year at Greensburg Country Club, and look forward to meeting everyone at the Club! Bradley W. Ladik, CCM, CSW, CDP General Manager, Greensburg Country Club

PAGE 5 Graceful in flight, musical in its pre-dawn singing, this big swallow is one of our most popular birds. Almost all Purple Martins in the east now nest in birdhouses put up especially for them. Martin housing has a long history: some Native American tribes reportedly hung up hollow gourds around their villages to attract these birds. Purple Martins migrate to South America for the winter, but before leaving, they may gather to roost in groups of thousands in late summer. A long-distance migrant, most wintering in Amazon Basin. Returns very early in spring in the east (often in February in southern states), usually later in spring in the west (mainly April and May). See if you can spot them around our course, their house is on Hole #1. Source: Nation- al Audubon Welcome Back Coach Erdos!
