MESSAGE FROM DR DANNY JORDAAN President of the South African Football Association The central tenet of SAFA’s Vision 2022 blueprint is that all of our national teams must qualify on a regular basis for major continental and global tournaments. Having done so for some years, the goal now is for them to do well in these tournaments. Our various national teams have proven within Africa that they are among the best with the U17 men’s and women’s national teams both having qualified for FIFA World Cups since 2015. To cap it off, Banyana Banyana, our Women’s Senior National COME Team qualified for their maiden FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ while our Men’s Senior National Team, Bafana SHOW Bafana, will represent South Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Egypt next month. Here in Poland Amajita sets YOUR the ball rolling in this busy year where they are featuring in their second successive FIFA World Cup™ following their exploits in L VE the Korea Republic in 2017. Without putting undue pressure on the technical team at this year’s showpiece, we are confident that the experience they have gained both on the continent and at the last FIFA World FOR FOR Cup™ will stand them in good stead in their Group which comprises Argentina, Korea Republic and Portugal. Not an NELSON ALBERTINA easy group at all and rightly so, many have called this the Group of Death. But to borrow a common football cliché, if you MANDELA SISULU want to be the best, you must beat the best. It is worth noting that Amajita have in the past achieved the best results ever for South Africa since our readmission to world football 25 years ago. This is the team’s fourth 2018 - 2019: CENTENARY of MADIBA qualification for a FIFA World Cup™, more than any other national side, and back in 2009 Amajita became our first and & MAMA ALBERTINA'S BIRTHDAYS only side to advance beyond the group stages of a World Cup to the round of 16 in Egypt. Having done thorough preparations leading up to this global showpiece, I am positive our boys are ready for this big challenge. They have the team to do the business and as they say, let the games begin. Good luck to all of you!

MESSAGE FROM DR HASSEN ADAMS Executive Chairman of BURGER KING® South Africa What a tremendous pleasure it is for me to be able to write such words for a second time in the space of two years. BURGER KING®’s sponsorship of the Men’s Under 20 National Team Amajita began in 2016 and here we are participating in consecutive World Cups after our appearance in the Korea Republic in 2017. Mondli Mpoto, Thendo Mukumela, Tercious Malepe, Teboho Mokoena, Sandile Mthethwa, Grant Margeman, Luther Singh – these are just some of the names of the players who represented South Africa at that World Cup who are right now engaged in qualifying rounds for the CAF U-23 AFCON with the aim of qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Still other players like Athenkosi Dlala and Khanyiso Mayo were part of the Under 17 Amajimbos team which qualified for the 2015 World Cup in Chile, the tournament which marked the beginning of our relationship with SAFA and South African football. Moreover, a handful of these players as well as current Amajita defender Malebogo Modise (pictured on the front cover) have already earned their debut caps with the national senior side Bafana Bafana and are currently plying their trade with European clubs. To see junior players rising through the ranks and finding their feet on world stages is proof that the right investment in the right people does bear positive results. To be able to empower and nurture young, gifted players so that they can develop into world-class players is our commitment to giving back to the communities where we do business. Supporting talent today means a brighter future for everyone tomorrow. SAFA is doing everything possible to ensure that its “Vision 2022” is a tangible reality delivering excellent results and we at BURGER KING® are honoured to be playing such an integral part in youth development. Allow me to wish Coach Thabo Senong and his staff and players the very best in Poland. You will be facing quality opponents in the form of Argentina, Korea Republic and Portugal and I urge you to make the most of this incredible experience and to take and learn as much as you can from it. As much as this time will impact your lives, it will also impact the lives of all the young footballers in South Africa hoping to emulate you. Make us truly proud! In December last year Amajita successfully defended their COSAFA U-20 Championship crown after defeating Mauritius (5-0) and eSwatini (4-0) in the group matches, Angola (1-0) in the semi-final and Zimbabwe on penalties (4-3) in the final. Lyle Foster (left) was joint Top Goalscorer (5) of the Tournament and Promise Mkhuma (right) was Player of the Tournament.
