School Safety School Resource Officer Video
School Safety o DDCES has an assigned police officer to monitor our school. o Security guards • Morning and afternoon shift o Entrance and office door will be locked at ALL times! In order to come into the school, you must buzz the office at the door. * You can not enter through the side doors. o Electronic systems will be in place where all visitors will register with the computer and a name tag will be printed. o Motion sensors and cameras throughout the school. o Barracuda systems for each classroom.
Arrival • FIRST 3 DAYS ONLY– All students may be escorted to their classroom door. • Effective Monday, August 22, 2022, arrival procedures indicated below will become effective. • Drive Thru Drop Off Option ~ Students can be dropped off at the vehicle drop-off/loading area on the side or in the front of the building. • Pedestrian Option ~ Parents who choose to park and walk their child to school, the only available entrance for walkers will be at the main entrance of the school. • All parents must depart the building by 8:00 am so that instruction can begin on time.
• FIRST 3 DAYS ONLY– All students must be picked up from their classroom door. • Effective Monday, August 22, 2022, dismissal procedures indicated below will become effective. Walker: Parents will enter the building and report to their child’s homeroom classroom or partner teacher’s classroom to pick up the student. Drive Thru Lane: Parents will remain in their vehicles and their child will be safely loaded onto his/her vehicle. All students will report to their assigned dismissal classroom 15 minutes prior to dismissal.

Classroom Rules are always posted clearly, and students are expected to follow them in the classroom. 1. Teacher will address the behavior in class 2. Parent Communication DDCES is implementing the Kickboard platform this school year!
• Attendance is ESSENTIAL to success in school! • Each student is required to be in their homeroom by 8:30 AM. • After 8:30 AM the student will be considered TARDY. • If your child is ABSENT an excused note must be signed and sent to the teacher no later than 3 days after the absence. § An excused note is a Doctor’s note or a note from the parent stating the child was sick. Other reasons for absence will be determined and approved by administration. § Excused absences include illness, death in the family, or for religious reasons. • 3 Tardies = 1 Detention, 3 Detentions = Privilege to attend a school event will be revoked.
Uniform Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School has a mandatory uniform policy. o Students must wear their complete uniform. o All school polos, pants, skirts, belts and sweaters must have the DDCES logo. The polos must be teal. o Shirts must be tucked in at all times. o All students must wear closed-toed shoes. (Please visit the student handbook for the revised uniform policy). • A home learning newsletter will be posted on each of the the third-grade teacher’s page on the DDCES website until we receive our school agenda. • Once we receive our agenda, the students will be responsible for writing their homework in their agenda. ***Homework is subject to change*** Gifted will begin in September.
As per the DDCES Homework Policy: K & 1st Grade: 30 minutes per night, five days 2nd & 3rd Grade: 45 minutes per night, five days 4th and 5th Grade: 60 minutes per night, five days These times do not reflect the additional 30 minutes of required reading for all students K-5. Participation in the Dual Language Program and/or Gifted Program often requires additional home learning assignments on a daily basis.
Anything that comes from home to the school must come in an envelope labeled. Teachers will not collect or accept anything unless it is properly labeled and in an envelope.
Students must have all their supplies ready by Wednesday, August 17th A copy of the supplies list is available on www.ddces.org **All summer reading assignments will be due Friday, September 2nd, 2022.

DDCS PTO DDCS will have one parent organization: PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) With representation from the Spanish, Portuguese, and French Programs PTO t-shirt will be the mandatory t-shirt for field trips. Snack Each child should bring a small labeled bag with a healthy snack daily. Snack time will be given during at the teacher’s discretion of the time. **DDCES is a nut free school** **Snack time will be a working snack** Snack Suggestions: goldfish, fruit, crackers, pretzels, yogurt etc. Personal Water Bottles Required
• Only allowed during snack time or recess. Only a cupcake/juice or cookie/juice is allowed. • Items must be individually wrapped. • Must be coordinated with the teacher in advanced. • Balloons and siblings are not allowed. Parents must be cleared in order to enter the building.
