Bakewell St. PH: 5996 1744 PO Box 26 Cranbourne 3977 Issue 03 4th March, 2021 Developing PRIDE (Persistence, Responsibility, Independence, Discipline, Excellence) in learning. PRINCIPAL’S NEWS Dear families, This will be my second last newsletter for our community. I have been reflecting on my time here, as I will be taking Long Service Leave in term 2 and then at the completion of my leave, I will be officially retiring from the Department of Education. I, therefore, will be finishing my time at Cranbourne Primary School in four weeks at the end of this term. I remember, as I stepped into the school grounds for the first time – day one of term 4, October 2010, being filled with excitement and anticipation of what my new position would be like, as I joined this beautiful school with such rich history, being the first primary school built in Cranbourne in 1890. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the families, students and teachers whom I have had the privilege to have known and worked with over the past 10 years at Cranbourne Primary School. I was particularly proud to learn that I was the first female Principal appointed to the school in 120 years. On my first day, there was such excitement as we opened the newly built BER building, which has provided a modern education environment for hundreds of children during the past decade. This was quickly followed by the refurbishment of the main building where a new Art room, library space and learning communities were established. Developments that have been achieved during my time at CPS have included: the development and upgrade of our Admin area, upgrading of our fencing, installation of PRIDE place which is scheduled to become our future Community Hub, development of the sand pit area, transition to the current uniform, establishment of learning communities, annual Casey Citizen Award recipients, the promotion of many staff into leadership positions at other schools, students going on to achieve academic excellence at secondary and university level. During my teaching and leadership career, which has spanned across 38 years, I have been honored and privileged to have supported and influenced the academic and well-being growth & development of thousands of students & their families, as well as supporting the development of hundreds of teachers and aspiring school leaders. I leave the school knowing that the gym will be upgraded next term, and the students will continue to be taught and supported by such caring and dedicated teachers and staff. I would like to wish every member of the community – staff, students and families all the best as we move into a new world of social distance, snap Lockdowns, quarantines and restrictions. I thank you for your ongoing involvement with the school and your dedication to supporting your child’s ongoing education. I would like to commend the current and past staff who have worked in this community and have contributed to the development and achievements of our amazing children. So what does this mean? An Acting Principal will be appointed to lead Cranbourne Primary school whilst I Due to the Public Holiday on am on Long Service Leave during term 2. School Photo Day at Cranbourne Primary School Annual school photos including sibling photos will be taken at Cranbourne Primary School by Arthur Reed Photos on Friday 19th March, 2021. There is no need to return any forms or money to school. Unique image codes will be issued to all students on/after photo day so families can register online to view images when they become available in the webshop. Registration is simple, just follow the 3 simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school. Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do so again this year using your child’s 2021 image code to link their images for the current year with your contact details. When images are ready to view and in the webshop, all parents who have registered will be notified by SMS and email. Once registered, please wait for notification that 2021 images are online to view before making your purchase.
All students at CPS experienced Kaboom once again on Friday 19th February! We enjoyed so many fun activities that got us moving and working in teams! Thankyou to Kaboom sports! We had so much fun!
Splish and Splash are settling into their new home in the EAL classroom nicely. Splish is no longer hiding in its barrel when it hears the students coming in for learning. Instead you might find Splish and Splash at the top of the tank, waiting to be fed – they are always looking for food, but we can’t overfeed them, or they might get sick. While they were away, the students decorated their little area in the EAL room and also wrote some stories
