* Week Beginning: 15th June 2020 Hello China and Brazil classes! We hope that you are all staying safe and that you are keeping busy. * As this week should have been the week we all took part in Sports Day, we are planning all of our home learning around sports. We hope you enjoy what we have planned. Please let us know what you’ve been up to by saving pictures and work in your OneDrive folder.
* Let’s get those hearts racing! Doing exercise is great for us as it gets the heart pumping blood and oxygen around our bodies. Find out just how fast your heart beats when carrying out different activities. To measure your heart rate, find your pulse on your wrist or neck. Count how many times it beats in one minute. Using the ‘Maths Recording Table’ (or create your own), record your heart rate after different exercises. Make sure you measure your heart rate before you exercise to be able to see the difference. Choose some of your own exercises as well as the suggested ones. *
* Recording your findings. Using your data, create a bar graph (using pen and paper or Excel) to show how fast your heart rate was after each exercise. To help you draw a bar graph, watch this tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReW4MPqXTvA To help you make a bar graph on Excel, watch this tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Txpfyn4ipI Send us a picture of your bar graph.
* Think about your favourite Sports Personality. What is it that you admire about them? Maybe they are the best at their sport… Maybe they are your favourite player on the team you support… Maybe they have never given up on their dream… Maybe they have competed in the Olympics despite things not always going well… Create a fact file about this person. Be as creative as you like in your presentation.
* Your favourite sports team or event is going live on television and you have been asked to present the show. Create a television show that broadcasts the sporting event and video it. Episode Suggestions: • Match of the Day Don’t forget to include: • Olympic event An opening video and song • Rugby Six Nations Commentator’s words over an video of the sporting event • Wimbledon Interesting information about the sporting event • Cricket match Interviews with retired sports people or players/pariticipants • Wrestling match • Etc. Things to think about before you video: What questions are you going to ask? How do commentators get the viewer excited? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjt0Va16LLk
* • Complete the ‘Rio Olympics 2016’ reading comprehension activity. • Have a look at this article about the England team in the 2018 football World Cup: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44808192 • Which team did England lose to in the European Championships in 2016? • How many goals did they score over the whole World Cup competition? • What was great about the goals they scored? • What wasn’t great about the goals they scored? • Which country had the most shots on target (per 90 minutes)? • Do you think England played well or do you think they were lucky to get to the semi- finals? Why do you think that? • Read a biography/autobiography about your favourite sports person. • Read the sports section of a newspaper or news website.
It’s Sports Day! We’re going to have a Brazil Class vs China Class Sports Day. How it’s going to work: 1. Complete an activity that gets your heart pumping. 2. Send us a picture/video/note of the activities you have completed. 3. Earn a point for each sporting activity you have taken part in. What sporting activities can I do? Any you like! It’s up to you but have a look at the ‘Sporting Activity Ideas’ document if you would like some ideas. How does a class win? A class wins by you earning points. The class with the most points will win!
