Six winners for the team this week gave us plenty to celebrate with the influence of Champion
New Zealand nursery Waikato Stud to the fore. Half of the team’s winners were by Waikato Stud
sires, headed up by Seaway (Ocean Park) who was impressive when resuming for his fourth career
victory. Breakdance (Rock ‘N’ Pop) broke through in his first start for the team and like some of the
stable’s recent stars in Who Shot Thebarman and Patrick Erin, he hails from the South Island in New
Zealand and was bred by now co-owners Wayne and Karen Stewart of White Robe Lodge. To round
off the Waikato theme, the stud’s own colours were carried to victory by Alier at Newcastle.
Those looking to get a glimpse of Winx can do so tomorrow with Chris deciding to take her to
Randwick for a gallop. Between 7am and 8.15am the ATC will also have a sausage sizzle breakfast
on offer for a gold coin donation. All proceeds will go to the Sydney Children’s Hospital while
towards the end of the morning, Chris will be available for photos and autographs.
The sales team has been busy with Inglis Classic preparations with the sale kicking off tomorrow
night at Warwick Farm after the races. Should you wish to be involved in any of our purchases,
contact Liam (liam@cwallerracing.com).
We wish all of our connections the best of luck and a safe weekend!

Chris Waller Racing - Winners This Week

Seaway
4yo G Ocean Park - Miss Purrfection by
One Cool Cat
The progeny of New Zealand based sire
Ocean Park are really starting to hit their
straps and this talented sort returned from
a spell following his winter campaign in
Queensland to score a highly impressive
fresh up win at Rosehill on Saturday over
1500m.
Guiding the Star Thoroughbreds yearling
purchase to his fourth victory was James
McDonald who positioned Seaway in an
ideal spot in third, just behind the leaders.
The Gr.2 Queensland Guineas runner-
up travelled comfortably in the soft track
conditions before letting down with a good
turn of foot in the straight for an easy
success.

Kashiwa
3yo G Fighting Sun - Coolroom
Candidate by Mister C.
This promising Star Thoroughbreds galloper
broke his maiden at Moonee Valley on Friday
night over 1200m.
Damien Oliver was on board and he dropped
the gelding by Fighting Sun out towards the
rear of the field early on.
He then brought him with a sustained run to
sweep to the front inside the final furlong for
a narrow success.

Breakdance
4yo G Rock ‘N’ Pop - Raise Your Pulse by
Savabeel
This son of Rock ‘N’ Pop was one of two
former New Zealand-based gallopers to win
for the stable this week.
Having shown promise in his three starts in
New Zealand he scored at his first Australian
start at Newcastle on Saturday over 1500m
under Lee Magorrian.
Magorrian was positive from the outset as he had him travelling in second position early outside the leader.
Breakdance showed a good attitude in the straight to fight on in determined style for a gutsy maiden
success.

and Darryl Sherer for our weekly photos.

Alier
3yo G O’Reilly - Tiptoes by Pins
Alier was another Waikato Stud product to
win for the stable this week. The son of the
Stud’s former champion sire and broodmare
sire O’Reilly won his maiden at Newcastle
on Saturday over 1860m.
Chad Lever was in the saddle and he took
luck out of the equation by controlling the
race from the outset.
Alier went to the front when the barriers
opened and Lever dictated the tempo
from there, travelling strongly at the head
of affairs before kicking on in the straight
to put 1.5 lengths between him and
stablemate Julkkis.

Sir Harry
3yo G Tobique - Pentrose by Pentire
This former New Zealand galloper showed
his true form at his second start since
joining the stable when winning his maiden
at Kembla Grange on Tuesday over 1600m.
Tommy Berry took the mount and gave the
son of Tobique plenty of time to find his
feet early as he relaxed him in midfield.
As they approached the home turn Berry
began to niggle at Sir Harry, building up
plenty of momentum.
Once balanced in the straight, Sir Harry
showed a good attitude in staying on
strongly to just hold off stablemate
Reposition.

Borazon
3yo G All Too Hard - Cristal Chateau by
Oratorio
This son of All Too Hard appreciated the
step up to 1800m when scoring a maiden
win at the Gold Coast on Saturday under
Paul Hammersley.
Hammersley had an armchair ride on
the hot favorite as he travelled easily
throughout in second position before being asked for his effort inside the final furlong. The response was
immediate as he quickened away to score by close to five lengths. Hopefully this will prove to be a good
confidence booster for him to build on in the coming weeks.

Thanks to Bradley Photographers, Trackside Photography,
and Darryl Sherer for our weekly photos.
Waller Weekly News - Chris Waller Racing
Accession draws wide in Millennium
Hugh Bowman won’t concede defeat on Accession after drawing the second-widest barrier in
Saturday’s $2 million Inglis Millennium (1200m) at Warwick Farm.
Accession and Dawn Passage shared favouritism pre-barrier draw at $3 but bookies leant towards
Dawn Passage after he drew gate six and Accession was allocated gate 14 in the 15-horse field,
eligible for Inglis sale graduates only.
“I would have preferred to have drawn in the middle but he’s a horse that tends to settle midfield or
even possibly a little further back in his races so the draw isn’t the end of the world,” Bowman told
SKY Thoroughbred Central.
“Whatever wins the race will need luck in running at some stage and there’s no exception there for
Accession.”
Bowman rode the Chris Waller-trained colt in trackwork on Tuesday morning and described the son
of Brazen Beau as being ‘very fresh’ and ‘happy within himself’.
“We’re very excited about his prospects, not just this weekend but also beyond. We’d like to see him
run well with the Golden Slipper in mind,” Bowman said.
Accession has raced three times for two victories, including the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at
Randwick on December 15, followed by winning an 1100-metre two-year-old handicap at Rosehill
by 4.3-lengths on January 19. That Inglis Nursery win ensures Accession is eligible for a $5m triple
crown bonus along with October’s $500,000 Inglis Banner (1000m) winner Espaaniyah, who led
throughout at The Valley.
If either Accession or Espaaniyah wins the inaugural Inglis Millennium, then they will remain alive
in the third and final leg of the triple crown - the $1m G1 Inglis ATC Sires’ Produce (1400m) at
Randwick on Saturday, April 6.-Racing.com

Chris Waller says no to Inglis and Magic
      Millions prizemoney for Golden Slipper
Chris Waller faces a “tricky” scenario to
qualify the exciting Accession for the
Golden Slipper but despite the prospect
being one of the favourites in Saturday’s
$2 million Inglis Millennium – he says
sales restricted races should not count
towards qualification for the Golden
Slipper.
Accession has won two of his three
starts, earning $372,000 for his owners
but the $291,000 the son of Brazen
Beau earned winning December’s
Inglis Nursery does not count, nor will
Saturday’s winner’s purse of $1.16
million, towards the Golden Slipper field.
Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster
said earlier this week he would lobby
Racing NSW and the Australian Turf
Club in the coming weeks to follow the
Victorian lead for sales-restriction races
to count towards the Golden Slipper
order of entry.
Waller though has a different take on
the subject.
“Everybody has an opinion and my
opinion is the race should be open to
every two-year-old in Australia and if
you have been bought at an Inglis Sale
and you’re paid up for the race series,
if you’re the first Inglis horse home you
get a bonus that reflects the prizemoney and so on for second, third, fourth and so on,” Waller said.
“That way the race would carry the Listed status of say the Lonhro Plate which is also going to be
run on Saturday, and it would also allow the race prizemoney of $140,000 (Lonhro Plate) to be
counted for qualification to the Golden Slipper.
“You know the horses purchased at an Inglis sale would target it and who’s not to say you wouldn’t
get an even stronger race?
“The black-type status for a two-year-old colt or filly is massive and who’s not to say the race
wouldn’t be a Group II in a few years?
“I understand they (Inglis or Magic Millions) want their races to be sheltered but they would also like
the prizemoney to count for the Golden Slipper. You can’t have both.
“We all talk about the states working against each other in the best interests of the racing product.
Waller Weekly News - Chris Waller Racing
“Why should a horse sold at an auction be given an advantage (over a home bred horse)?”
On Saturday at Warwick Farm the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) will be run alongside the Inglis
Millennium. The Lonhro Plate field of eight is made up by three Inglis offered yearlings, three from
the Magic Millions sales series and two homebreds.
Accession is the $3.40 second favourite behind Dawn Passage in Saturday’s Inglis Millennium and
Waller believes the colt has the necessary attributes to overcome his outside barrier of 14.
“He just keeps improving every start and if he’s improved again, the others will be in some trouble,”
he said.
“He got a wide draw which will be hard to overcome but he has obvious ability and he’s turned into
a genuine push-button racehorse.
“He jumps, he settles, he’s very tractable and he’s finishing the race off.
“From the draw I’ll leave it up to Hughie (Bowman) to let the race unfold. I know he’s got a couple of
gears up his sleeve if we need to use them.”
After Saturday’s race Waller’s focus with Accession will turn to the Golden Slipper and how to
qualify the $300,000 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale purchase.
The Australian Turf Club offers seven Golden Slipper ballot exemption races, four of which
Accession is eligible to contest – the Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) on February 23, Skyline Stakes
(1200m) on March 2, Todman Stakes (1200m) on March 9 or the Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) on
March 16.
“The tricky part is he’ll probably only get one chance to get into the Golden Slipper after Saturday,”
Waller said.
“Right now, Saturday’s the most important race for him. We’ll get that out of the way and if we’re in
a position to choosing races it’s going to be a good position to be in.” -Racenet.com.au

Waller bows to ageless Winx
Winx has often caused Chris Waller to marvel at her ability and the seemingly ageless champion
continues to astonish her trainer in what is surely her final racing journey this autumn.
Waller knows nothing can last forever so he is lapping up each moment he has left with the world
champion mare, who has a date with the public at a special sausage sizzle at Randwick on Saturday
morning - one week out from her return to racing in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes. The record-
breaking trainer was in Melbourne on Friday morning to supervise some important gallops but, as
always, the topic keeps returning to Winx and when it does, the smile always returns to his face.
"Winx hasn't changed one bit, which is scary to think," Waller beamed.
"We are constantly looking for the body clock to suggest that she's not as effective as she has been.
She's not showing any signs whatsoever.
"Her attitude is great. She's moving well and her work has been great."
Waller said the exercise of taking her to Randwick held plenty of benefit for the seven-year-old
winner of almost $23 million in stakes.
"She's going to Randwick tomorrow to just have a stretch of her legs and a float trip and to get the
butterflies out of her stomach before her first-up run in the Apollo," he added.
Waller also has racing's budding star in his stable in the form of Caulfield Guineas winner The
Autumn Sun, who the trainer confirmed would miss next month's $5 million All-Star Mile at
Flemington despite being second of 130 horses in the public voting with 10 days of voting
remaining.
"It's unlikely," Waller said of The Autumn Sun and The All-Star Mile. "It's a shame because he
certainly deserves to be there and should be there.
"But with not having the Group 1 status yet, for a colt, you have to be careful with how it affects
their value.
"The obvious target is keeping horses in their own age group. He goes to the Randwick Guineas
through the Hobartville and we'll see from there." - Racing.com

Chris Waller likes what he sees in
              Nature Strip and Ringerdingding
Champion trainer Chris Waller is eager to see what
lies ahead this autumn for his stable additions Nature
Strip and Ringerdingding, which kick off campaigns at
Caulfield on Saturday.
Waller has been a beneficiary of disgraced trainer
Darren Weir’s four-year disqualification for
possession of jiggers by securing the two high-profile
gallopers in the past week.
“It’s a good point that this isn’t the first time Nature
Strip or Ringerdingding have found themselves in a
new stable for whatever reason,” Waller said.
“It’s not a new thing for them and they seem to have
settled as well as I could have hoped.”
Nature Strip, was scratched last week from the WJ
Adams Stakes at Caulfield due to Weir’s indiscretion
and kicks off on Saturday in the Group II Rubiton
Stakes (1100m).
“He’s turned up in great condition,” Waller said. “He’s
been with us for almost a week and hasn’t missed a
beat.
“We took him to Moonee Valley on Monday and Damian Lane was aboard. My theory behind that
was new trainer, new jockey - not ideal but new trainer, old jockey - ideal.
“Darren’s stable has been good. They’ve helped us where they can in terms of where the horses are
at, which is important for the owners and the punters.
“He came through Monday really well and I’m looking forward to watching him in action on
Saturday. There’s no doubt he’s a really good horse.”
Bookmakers are taking no risks with Nature Strip, $1.55 is the top offering for Saturday’s contest.
Ringerdingding is one of two runners for Waller in the Group II Autumn Stakes (1400m), the other
being Dealmaker which holds an edge over his new stablemate having a run under the belt after
resuming in Sydney a fortnight ago.
Waller believes that fitness edge could be to Dealmaker’s advantage over Ringerdingding.
“Dealmaker was unlucky not to have won first-up and came through the run well,” he said.
“It was well documented he had a few setbacks in the spring but with a trouble-free prep this time I
think you’ll see a very good horse.
“If he handles Caulfield, I think he’ll run well.
“Ringerdingding, I don’t think he’s forward enough to be classed as a good thing first up but
obviously his class will take him a long way.
“Whatever he does on Saturday he’ll improve from.
“The plan was set for him to go to the Australian Guineas and that’s still the plan.
Waller Weekly News - Chris Waller Racing
“He’ll run well but expect improvement with it.”
Both horses are $5 chances in the Autumn Stakes while his two runners in the Group I CF
Orr Stakes (1400m), D’argento and Shillelagh are double-figure odds chances at $11 and $15
respectively.
“D’argento has been to Caulfield previously in the spring and had no luck,” Waller said. He’s drawn
well on Saturday and I’m hoping he’ll sprint well fresh.
“He looks to have come back well.
“It’s unfortunate Shillelagh has drawn 14 because that will make it hard for her at Caulfield.
“It’s not the be all and end all if she doesn’t win on Saturday but I thought she could give the race a
cheeky shake had she drawn better.” - Racenet.com.au

Winx takes Saturday’s stage
The races might be at Warwick Farm on Saturday but it’s a sure bet there will be more people at
Randwick that morning to enjoy a historic breakfast with the world’s best active thoroughbred.
The Australian Turf Club confirmed on Monday that, in conjunction with trainer Chris Waller, it
will host a special breakfast where Winx will have an exhibition gallop a full week out from her
expected return to racing in the Apollo Stakes on February 16.
Waller, jockey Hugh Bowman and the champion mare’s owners will be on hand before Winx
goes out onto the track for her 8am exhibition gallop and the general public have been invited
to a sausage sizzle to watch the mare in action with all gold coin donations going to the Sydney
Children’s Hospital.
Waller said: ‘’We would like to give Winx a race day experience before she resumes her Sydney
Autumn Racing Carnival campaign and the opportunity to put her on a float and take her to Royal
Randwick will round off her preparation perfectly.
‘’It also gives us the chance to let the public see her close up and also on the track.’’
Winx is shooting for a 30th consecutive win in the Apollo, thus making this Saturday’s exhibition
gallop a memorable one as it will most likely be her last ever as she is expected to race just four
more times before being retired.- Racing.com
