From the desk of the CEO... Dear Girl Scout Families, Welcome to the 2018-2019 Girl Scout year! I am so excited to share this new bi-annual publication – Events + Activities – with you. This book includes a wide variety of engaging Girl Scout events and activities for your daughter and your family. As you prepare for a great Girl Scout year, please use Events + Activities to plan your daughter’s Girl Scout Leadership Experience or to supplement activities she already has scheduled with her troop. We want to be sure that you have every opportunity to explore ALL that Girl Scouts has to offer – the quality of your daughter’s Girl Scout experience is now in your hands! At Girl Scouts, the girl is at the center of all that we do. But a great way to celebrate our girls is to engage the entire family. Page 5 highlights great family fun events for mom and me, dad and me and the entire family. In addition, there are outdoor leadership and adventure opportunities throughout the council, new experiences at the STEM Center of Excellence, and events to earn badges and journeys. Have an older girl? Be sure to check out page 6 for our new Girl Scout clubs including those for astronomy, filmmaking, coding and more. If you have a high school girl, see the Girl Scout Leadership Institute (GSLI) feature on page 10. GSLI offers exclusive college and career exploration which are amazing opportunities for building confidence for her future. We hope you find this a valuable resource for your family. Take a moment, sit down with your daughter and find the parts of Girl Scouts that inspire her. There is a place for every girl in Girl Scouts and we can’t wait to see you and your daughter this year! Sincerely, Jennifer K. Bartkowski Chief Executive Officer 3
