Bringing together volunteers and organizations in the Sioux Empire. July 2018 WELCOME to the RSVP Newsletter! We are excited to provide you with monthly updates, events, stories and news regarding the RSVP program and what is happening among your fellow RSVP members and organizations in the Sioux Empire. Volunteering as an Older Adult There are many great rewards to volunteering No matter what age you get started. Studies show that men and women at, beyond or approaching retirement age can benefit greatly from volunteer work. The reasons why older adults volunteer varies, but in its 2014 survey the AARP’s Experience Corps found that 97 percent of its volunteers indicated that their volunteer work with the organization gave them a sense of purpose. RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over. You can use the skills and talents you’ve learned over the years, or develop new ones while serving in a variety of volunteer activities within your community.
