Every Monday HSE Cheerleaders will be selling candy after school so please bring your money and appetite to dismissal on Monday. Lunch with Grandparents*: Monday, October 8th Bring a lunch to share with your prince or princess! Students in Kindergarten 11:00-11:30 a.m. Students in 1st grade 11:08-11:38 a.m. Students in 2nd grade 11:15-11:45 a.m. Students in grades 3-4, 11:20-11:50 a.m. Students in grades 5-8, 12:10-12:35 p.m. *Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your student’s lunch period. For students in grades K-3, it is extremely important to let their teacher know (either by note or email) that they will be eating lunch with a grandparent so that they can be sent directly to the commons area when they are dismissed for lunch. Family Night Tuesday, October 9th 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Join us for contests, ra es, special performances, and food trucks! Donuts with Dukes Join us for a morning of donuts and great books at the Book Fair! Students with last names starting with A-L Thursday, October 11th, 7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m. Students with last names starting with M-Z Friday, October 12th, 7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m. Hispanic Heritage Night The ESL and Spanish departments will be hosting Heritage Night on October 10th from 3:05 - 5:00 in the cafeteria this year. ESL students from 4th-8th will be participating as well as LOTE students. Houston Maker Faire Houston Maker Faire is being held Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October 14th, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center downtown. The Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. There are hours and hours of hands-on entertainment for all ages.

HSE International Festival I-Fest Meetings will be held on Tuesday, October 16th in the commons area at 8:00 am and 5:30 pm. If you are wanting more information on having a country booth, having your child perform, volunteering or just looking for more information on the event, please come out and see what our International Festival is all about! Yes, the PTO provides an Opt-out option for all families who still want to feel good about helping the school raise money but don't want to go through with catalog sales or fun runs. Please see the attached form to see how you can Opt-Out of fundraising this year. All forms and payment can be sent back to your teacher in an envelope addressed to HSE PTO or placed in the PTO mailbox located in the front lobby.

Noetic Math Contest Calling All Mathletes! Registration has begun for the Noetic Math Contest. It is a national problem-solving contest for grades 2nd through 8th grade. There will be 2 assessments/contests that your child will participate in. These contests will take place on November 14, 2018, and April 10, 2019, from 3:15-4: 00 pm at HSE.
