The Transition to Kindergarten
❖ Create positive experiences with the new setting.

❖ Let your child know he is safe and will be alright.

❖ Remind your child of previous moments when s/he was
        brave.

❖ Let your child know in words s/he can understand that you
appreciate how it feels to be separated. Understand and
        accept without excessive sympathy.

❖ Do not bribe your child in distress. Assure your child
        unconditionally.

❖ At the end of the day, focus on the positive aspects of the
day. Discuss but don’t dwell on anxiety.

Lunch/Snack/Allergies
❖ You can set up an account with My Schoolbucks.

❖ You can contact Angela Reis in the Central Office regarding
  your account.

❖ Your teacher will share details regarding snack.

❖ Students have one hour for lunch and recess.

❖ There are numerous allergies in our building. If there is a
child with an allergy in your child’s class, you will receive a
letter in your summer packet. We all need to be vigilant
about the foods brought into the school and how they are
consumed as well as procedures for clean-up.

❖ If your child has an allergy, you will be contacted by one of
our school nurse, Ms. Sandra LoGalbo. If you have any
questions concerning allergies, please contact our Health
  Office.
Arrival & Dismissal
• Any change in Arrival or Dismissal procedure MUST be put in writing to
the teacher and as early as possible. Please use the standard form you
received in your child’s summer packet. We can provide you with extras.
• Students will NOT be dismissed to you between 2:45 and 3:00.
• Arrival procedures:
   • Arrival is between 8:45-9:00 a.m.
   • We have monitors who open the kindergarten side door at 8:45. We close the
doors promptly at 9:00. If you arrive after 9:00, students need to be brought to
     the main entrance.
• Dismissal procedures:
   • Dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m.
   • Buses typically depart anywhere between 3:05 and 3:25.
   • If a bus is running late in the afternoon, we will make every effort to contact you
     if time allows.
   • Teachers will walk the students out to the basketball court if s/he is a walker.
Please do not stand on the steps or by the entrance of the basketball court. You
MUST stand by your child’s class sign-ex: Gazzo-K-2 sign.
Contact Information
❖ It is essential that the school always has your most updated
  contact information.

❖ Please make sure the classroom teacher and the main office
have your emergency contacts. These must be people you
can depend on in an emergency. This is NOT a relative in
  the city.

❖ If you do not know of anyone who could pick up your child
in the case of an emergency, please begin to reach out to
neighbors or fellow parents in your child’s class.
