The Transition to Kindergarten ❖ Create positive experiences with the new setting. ❖ Let your child know he is safe and will be alright. ❖ Remind your child of previous moments when s/he was brave. ❖ Let your child know in words s/he can understand that you appreciate how it feels to be separated. Understand and accept without excessive sympathy. ❖ Do not bribe your child in distress. Assure your child unconditionally. ❖ At the end of the day, focus on the positive aspects of the day. Discuss but don’t dwell on anxiety.
