THE WEEKLY OCTOBER 4-10 WE’RE SO SAD WE MISSED YOU JUST A STANDARD DAY IN KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE, WHERE WE LEARN THAT, IN OUR PURSUIT OF KNOWLEDGE, WE ARE ABLE TO DO GREAT THINGS. WE ARE EXCITED TO SHOW YOU OUR FIRST GRADE AND KINDERGARTEN COLLABORATION IN OUR QUEST TO BE THE IDEAL PORTRAIT OF A GLADIATOR. WE DISPLAYED OUR BEST WORK FOR OPEN HOUSE. ONE THING WE HAVE LEARNED IN FIRST GRADE AND KINDERGARTEN IS WE ARE NOT ALL EVERYTHING, BUT EVERYONE OF US IS CERTAINLY SOMETHING. WE WORK EVERY DAY TO BE A BETTER GLADIATOR THAN YESTERDAY AND TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SHARE OUR STRENGTHS WITH OUR CLASSMATES. WE REPRESENTED THAT IN OUR SELF PORTRAITS. SHOWING OUR ADAPTABILITY, WE DECIDED TO SHARE THEM VIRTUALLY. HERE ARE JUST A FEW. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM; THEY WILL BE COMING HOME SOON! "Alone we are smart. Together we are brilliant." - Steven Anderson Students collaborate on an assignment for Advanced Placement Psychology using the whiteboard tables in the high school media center. Expect Respect will be selling #tonystrong black and red silicone bracelets for the Oct. 8 EF/SA game starting Oct. 5. Tony Cook was the Vice President of Expect Respect and has always inspired us all to be kinder, better humans and to truly come together as a community. Since EF made camo game shirts in blue and gold, it would only make sense for SA to sell bracelets in red and black! The bracelets will be sold in school for $3. There will also be an Expect Respect table at the Oct. 8 game where bracelets will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to the Cook Family. STUDENT-CENTERED, EQUITY-FOCUSED, FUTURE-DRIVEN EDUCATION ON SEPTEMBER 21, THE ALLIANCE 2025 TEAM PARTICIPATED IN A VIRTUAL PRESENTATION, COURAGEOUS LEADERSHIP IN SUPPORT OF STUDENTS. OUR ON- GOING COMMITMENT TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WILL HELP MOVE OUR GLADIATORS INTO THE FUTURE. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT IN FIFTH GRADE Fifth grade students spent time working on their writing skills by developing a three paragraph “Portrait of a Gladiator” essay. They reflected upon past accomplishments and set goals for the future. Additionally, students identified the steps needed to achieve those goals. Be on the lookout! We have future archaeologists, nurse practitioners, military men and women, entrepreneurs, and teachers amongst us! THE WEEKLY

"IF SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT, I SAY SOMETHING. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO DO THAT; I CREDIT MY MOM BECAUSE SHE IS LIKE THAT TOO." SHAY'S ADVICE IS, "BE CONFIDENT IN WHAT YOU BELIEVE AND IN WHAT YOU SPEAK ABOUT; DON'T BE AFRAID TO PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE, ESPECIALLY IF IT IS TO RIGHT A WRONG." SHAY, A SENIOR, IS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN SA'S SCHOOL-TO- WORK PROGRAM; SHE WORKS PART TIME AT WALMART AFTER COMPLETING HER MORNING CLASSES.
