The 8-foot peace pole, one of over BAPTISM 200,000 planted around the world, was installed in December and shares the Reynolds Gray Tinman message, “May peace prevail on Earth.” Designed by local artist Eileen Blyth, Daughter of Columbia’s peace pole includes a bell, Spencer and Lauren Tinman which may be rung to signify a desire to work for peace locally and in the world. November 28, 2021 The project grew out of an annual in- terfaith, multicultural remembrance of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Ja- pan, led by the Columbia Friends Meeting.
4 The Spire January 2022 CONFIRMATION RETREAT: Our confirmation class and their mentors spent a weekend at the Lutheran Retreat Center at the Isle of Palms in November. Over the course of the weekend, they focused on what it meant to love God and love our neighbors, and Rev. Jen- ny McDevitt led a conversation about interpreting scripture through the rule of love. They finished the weekend by visiting their siblings in Christ at St. James Presbyterian Church for Sunday worship. It was a transformative experience for all who took the trip. THANK YOU D ear Shandon, The generosity of Shandon Presbyterian Church was certainly demonstrated with the Sistercare Donations Project, sponsored by the Presbyterian Women, in November. We collected a trunk full of food and supplies plus $350 in gift cards.
