SERIOUS FUN THE HAWKE’S BAY SUMMER ELITE & U23 WOMEN’S RACE When: Saturday 6 January, 10am CYCLING CARNIVAL Where: Marine Parade, Napier The Elite Road National Championships is New Zealand’s premier Saddle up and head to Napier between the 5th and the 10th January for national road cycling event, attracting New Zealand’s top professional serious fun at the Hawke’s Bay Summer Cycling Carnival 2018. SERIOUS FUN IWAY FAMILY FUN RIDE When: Wednesday 10 January, 4pm to 5pm Where: The Soundshell, Marine Parade, Napier Get your family and friends together and come and ride the 1.1km Criterium circuit down the iconic Marine Parade. The road will be closed, so it will be safe for all ages to ride. Dress up your bike or come in your lycra - whatever you want to wear goes. There will be spot prizes and some serious fun. Start location is The Soundshell. There is a bike up for grabs, kindly donated by Avanti. Make sure you also enter the Avanti Dress Your Bike Competition before the Family Fun Ride kicks off at 4pm. And remember to linger after your ride and watch the high- speed racing of the Black Barn Vineyards Criterium. BLACK BARN VINEYARDS CRITERIUM When: Wednesday 10 January, 5:30pm Where: The Soundshell, Marine Parade, Napier Napier’s iconic Marine Parade will become the track for the Black Barn Vineyards Criterium. This is a high speed and exciting race for spectators as riders tackle the 1.1km circuit, with sprint laps every 10 minutes. Come along watch the action! For cyclists, there are plenty of reasons to give it a go with $2,500 prize money to be won amongst the grades. There’s a category for all levels and even a children’s section. The winner of the fastest women and men’s race will not be short of a coffee for a while!
