About us
Explore the North is owned by the Swedish couple Johan & Sara.
The company is located in Kangos, a small village 150 km north
of the Arctic Circle, where Johan grew up. Pine tree forests, lakes
and rivers make this landscape a wild and beautiful place. In the
summer you can enjoy the midnight sun, in fall the great colours
in nature and in the wintertime the magical northern lights. If you
want to experience a real adventure out in the wilderness this is the
place for you! We arrange different kinds of activities in summer
and winter. To us you come as a guest and leave as a friend!
We run 2 lodges, Pinetree Lodge in Särkimukka and
Aurora Mountain Lodge in Lannavaara.

In the Pinetree Lodge you can enjoy a drink in our
lounge bar and then sit down in our restaurant for

Summer Activities
There is plenty to see and do at Explore the North. Summer in Lapland is very
special because of the midnight sun with 24 hours of daylight. These long
days give you the opportunity to make the most out of your holiday!
Away from the cities you can experience unspoiled
nature! Hiking, rowing, swimming, and the opportuni-
ty to experience nature. Whatever you choose, you will
be constantly aware of the clean air and the silence.
And with a bit of luck you might meet rare birds, rein-
deer, moose, beavers or other wildlife.
How to fill in your days:
Hiking
There are some great, well-marked hiking trails from
the lodge and many more possibilities to just stroll
through the forests on your own. There are also beauti-
ful nature reserves in the area that you can visit, we
are happy to advise you where to go!
Fishing
There are plenty of fish in the lakes around the lodge:
arctic char, brown trout, rainbow trout and perch. Picking berries
