2018 IMPORTANT DATES January 23 - Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session at the Town Hall 7:00pm- 7:30pm January 24 - 1st day for candidates to file declarations of candidacy with Town Clerk until 5:00pm Selectmen - Two (2) 3 year terms Town Moderator - 2 year term Town Treasurer - 1 year term Cemetery Trustee - 3 year term Water Commissioner - 3 year term Planning Board - Two (2) 3 year terms Supervisors of the Checklist - 6 year term Trustee of the Trust Funds - 3 year term, 2 year term Trustees of the Tucker Free Library - Two (2) 3 year terms, 1 year term February 2 - Last day for candidates to file declarations of candidacy with Town Clerk until 5:00pm February 6 - Last day to petition the Selectmen to include an article on the warrant February 6 - The Board of Selectmen will hold a Public Hearing on the 2018 Municipal Budget at the Community Center 6:15pm March 13 - Town Elections March 17 - Town Meeting HENNIKER DOG OWNERS DOG TAGS FOR 2018 ARE AVAILABLE All dogs over four (4) months old MUST be licensed by their owners or keepers with the Town Clerk's office prior to April 30 th. RSA 466:1 Please bring in a valid rabies certificate at the time of licensing. A $25.00 forfeiture will be assessed if not licensed by June 1 st. RSA 466:13 AZALEA PARK RIVERWALK COMMITTEE LEADING THE WAY The Country Spirit Restaurant has given the first donation to the Azalea Park Entrance Project winter fundraiser with a generous gift of $200.00! JOIN THE EFFORT All Henniker residents received our fundraising letter in the mail in December. The committee is hoping that you will all follow the lead of The Country Spirit Restaurant and give generously to this important project. Our goal is to
complete a new and safe entrance to Azalea Park by the Town's 250th. Anniversary celebration this summer. WITH YOUR HELP, WE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! HENNIKER ROTARY CLUB The Henniker Rotary Club is pleased to announce two important upcoming events in its Community Service calendar. The 2018 Rabies Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 th , 2:00 - 4:00pm, at the Henniker Fire Station with Henniker Veterinary Hospital administering rabies shots and the Town Clerk providing licensure for all dogs. The very next day, Sunday, April 15th the club will conduct its annual Four-Way Test Speech contest at the Henniker Community Center beginning at noon. High school students from the area compete in this local contest by presenting a 5-7 minute speech on how Rotary's Four- Way Test applies to some aspect of their lives or to current issues. Henniker Community School January 8-11, 2018 An integrated arts approach to bring learning alive for students is at the heart of the Artist- in- Residence (AIR) program for 6 th graders at the Henniker Community School. This year's AIR program will focus on Africa. During the months leading to the final event on January 11, 2018, the students have worked to gain a greater understanding of the culture, geography, and history the region. Henniker 6 th graders also explored the rich colors and tradition of mosaics in Africa with Hopkinton, NH, artist Lizz Van Saun in November and December. In January, the students will learn with two
artists, Steve Ferrais and James Marshall, on the djembe hand-drumming technique, traditional West African rhythms, and traditional West African dance during the week of January 8-11. The students will also participate in a tie-dye costume making session with the artists. The public is invited to the culminating event for this year's Artist-in-Residence program on Thursday, January 11, 2018. There will be a performance of music and dance by the sixth graders with Steve Ferrais and James Marshall at 6:30pm in the Henniker School gym. This performance is free and open to the public. The Artist-in-Residence program for sixth graders at the Henniker program is made possible by funding from the Henniker PTA, and the taxpayers of Henniker. DONATION TO HENNIKER FOOD PANTRY First graders in Lindsay Nye's class at the Henniker Community School recently raised $990.02 for the Henniker Food Pantry during their week-long school wide coin drive in December. Each day a different coin was collected throughout the school--Monday they collected HENNIKER'S 250th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION quarters, Tuesday it was dimes, Wednesday--nickels, Thursday--pennies, Our committee has been hard at work putting together a schedule and Friday was for any coin. This service for next year's big event which will take place on August 3rd, 4th learning project offered ample opportunity and 5th of 2018. Both the ornaments and other items will continue to be sold throughout 2018.
