The Messenger Volume 77, No. 2 February 1, 2021 State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State St., Cayce, SC 29033 803 796-6123 | statestreetbaptist.org In 1970 there was a movie starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal called Love Story. In that movie there was an often quoted line. The line was, “Love means never having to say you're sorry.” That line was so popular that in 2005, it was voted #13 in the American Film Institute's list “100 Years... 100 Movie Quotes”. It is a very popular and memorable line, but also a very bad line to glean wisdom from. Jesus says it is so important to ask forgiveness and reconcile with brothers and sisters in Christ, that you can’t even worship Him without reconciling with your brother or sister first. Matthew 5:23-24, “…if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled with your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.” The world has many opinions and definitions of love. But they all fall short of what God’s Word says is love. From February 14 – March 21 we will be in a sermon series exploring how God’s Word defines love. I hope you can join us at 9AM or 10:30AM or online as we look at love through the lens of Scripture. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Pastor Chet
