Pat Merchant St. Alban's Intercessory Prayer Group- Every Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., you are invited to join in and pray for the needs of your love ones, people of the community, our church, our nation and the world. The prayer session normally concludes by 11:30. If you wish for us to pray for someone or something special, please fill out a prayer card, which are located in the pew racks in the sanctuary. You can place it in the offering plate, give it to an usher or leave it in the church office daily between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Bible Readings Readings for this Week: Readings for Next Week: Exodus 3:1-15 Joshua 5:9-12 Psalm 63:1-8 Psalm 32 I Corinthians 10:1-13 II Corinthians 5:16-21 Luke 13:1-9 Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32 Pat's Perspective Dearly Beloved, We had a very informative evening with attorney Sam Roberson on Tuesday, as he educated us about wills, power of attorney and other documents regarding aging. Sam was extremely educational and helpful with his careful answers to our many questions.
This coming Tuesday, March 26, our speaker is Sara Carson, a lady that has worked with the Atlanta Alzheimer's Association for over 10 years. She will entertain questions about the this disease and Dementia. Hope everyone will have the opportunity to attend. Please make every effort to be at church this Sunday for an official St. Alban's Welcome to Dylan Walker. Dylan has been hired as our Children's and Youth Director. I hope all families with Children and Youth will be present to support him. Dylan has been present for a few weeks and we are blessed that he will lead these most important Christian educational programs. Spring has officially arrived and the beauty of the flowers and trees is all around us. I truly hope the light and beauty of world bring you joy this week. Bless the Lord who forgives all our sins! Lovepat Youth News 2019 Sunday School for children and teenagers is now underway. Children's Sunday School begins at 9:30 before Sunday morning worship service. The children will join the congregation during the Peace for the remainder of Eucharist. The teens will gather immediately following the worship service during adult coffee hour. Lenten Supper and Program Every Tuesday Evening during Lent March 12 through April 9 at 6:00 pm Join us every Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm during Lent for a soup and sandwich supper and a very informative program. We will have an unique quest speaker each week as the series will focus on "Godly Aging". We had a very nice and informative evening last Tuesday with Sam Roberson, an attorney from the Atkinson Ferguson Law Firm. Thank you to Virginia Flanigan, Marty Atkinson, Vida Broach, and Kathleen DeMarco for the wonderful supper! Thanks to all who attended. March 26- Sara Carson, Medical Social Worker, member of the Alzheimer's Disease Association. Sara will address Dementia and Alzheimer's Diseases. April 2- Maury Adcock, Edward Jones Investments. Maury will discuss how to make your money last through retirement. April 9- Rev. Pat Merchant, Rector of St. Alban's. Discussion of wishes and preparation of your funeral and reflections on dying and death. Please volunteer to help provide the soup and sandwiches for one of the evenings by signing up on the sheet located on the round table in the Narthex. Congratulations! Congratulations to Bob Hay on the birth of his 10th grandchild! Molly June Santos was born March 19th (7 lbs. 15 oz). The proud parents are Jessica and Michael Santos. Vestry Meeting - The next Vestry Meeting is Sunday, April 7, at 11:30 a.m. The meeting will take place in the conference room and is open to anyone who would like to attend and observe. This year's Monroe Mid-Week Lenten Worship and Lunch schedule is as follows: March 27th- First United Methodist Church, Monroe, GA April 3rd- The Praise Center, Monroe, GA April 10th- First Baptist Church, Monroe, GA All services begin at 12 noon with complimentary lunch to follow. Please make plans to attend and support Monroe Area Ministerial Association which provides a multitude of benefits to F.I.S.H. The Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday - April 14 - 10:00 a.m. Maundy Thursday Service - April 18 - 7:00 p.m. Good Friday Service - April 19 - 7:00 p.m. The Resurrection of Our Lord: Easter Sunday - April 21 - 10:00 a.m. Anyone desiring to make a contribution toward Easter Flowers, please use the envelopes that are in the pews. Put your name and the name of the person to be honored or memorialized on the envelope. Also, on the memo line of your check, please indicate "For Easter Flowers." The Altar Guild thanks you for your support. Easter Egg Hunt We will have an Easter Egg Hunt after the worship service on Easter morning, April 21st. Members are invited to participate by donating plastic eggsfilled with candy, trinkets, or coins. Eggs will be collected each Sunday in a box in the lobby of the Parish Hall.
"Godly Aging" Tuesday's Lenten Program For the past two Tuesday evenings, St. Alban's has been honored to have The Society of St. Anna the Prophet and Sam Roberson, attorney at law, present very informative talks regarding Godly Aging. The St. Alban's educational committee strongly encourages all parishioners, young and old, to join this series on Tuesday at 6 pm for the remainder of Lenten Session. As always, delicious soup and sandwiches are provided by the wonderful volunteers of St. Alban's. Thanks to every single one of you that are involved!
