The DBC (Dragon Boat Canada) board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Canadian Dragon Boat Championships. Originally, the championships were planned for Montreal, October 7-10, 2021. DBC is thrilled to announce that the 2022 Canadian Dragon Boat Championships will be held in Montreal, August 18-21, 2022. The DBC Facebook page is advertising a DBC Steering Accreditation Course (both in-class and on-water) for $125 on October 17, 2021 at Frenchman’s Bay, Pickering, ON as well as a virtual Level 1 Introduction to Coaching Course on October 16. For more information and to register, see the DBC Facebook page. From the CKC (Canoe Kayak Canada) website: Canoe Kayak Canada and the Rideau Canoe Club Host Organizing Committee are proud to hold the 2021 Canoe Kayak Canada Sprint National Championships. “Nationals” will be one of the first national amateur sporting events to be held in Canada as we return to sport as part of Canada’s Covid Recovery. (Nationals is scheduled for August 24-29, 2021 in Ottawa, ON.) For many in our paddling community across Canada, this will be a first opportunity to compete at a national level. For others, Nationals has long served as a celebration of our sport, and a homecoming for friends from coast to coast. The 2021 Nationals will look and feel a bit different, but we are committed to making the 2021 Event a truly fantastic experience – one that will reflect how far we’ve come in being able to hold a Championship in 2021. Our returning Olympians, the combination of National Team Trials, and so many new and young athletes racing at Nationals will all guarantee an incredible week. As a competing athlete, official, coach, parent, grandparent, volunteer or spectator, all of you will make a difference in how our event goes. For more information, please see the CKC website. Also, the 2021 Canada Summer Games, with flatwater events originally scheduled for August 16-20, 2021 at the Welland International Flatwater Centre are now postponed to 2022.
