Ice Breakers Facilitated by Wingspread Staff Will the Real Mr. / Mrs. Jones Stand up? To break the ice by forcing people to introduce themselves by means of their drawing ability rather than their words. (15-20 minutes varying on group size) Know Your Customer To illustrate the value of tapping the diverse knowledge and thinking styles of team members. Identify a key word that is relevant to your group and see how many other words are found within the key word by either working alone or in small teams. (15-20 minutes) The Human Spider Web A physical feat of teamwork to unravel your teams human spider web. This will help energize and warm up your team while breaking down their inhibitions. (10 minutes) Portable Skills Discover individual strengths and applicable experiences that will make a more productive team and build rapport within the team. With using index cards, each member of the team will write down two skills they bring to the team and help learn more about each other. (15-20 minutes) The Parlor Game To demonstrate that teamwork gets better results than working alone. After viewing objects on a table, each individual will make a list of what items they remember viewing compared to making the same list with a group of team members. (15-20 minutes) Verbal Cues Exercise Split the team up in partners; one of the pair will be blindfolded and take verbal cues on how to accomplish a task. (15-20 minutes) Let Go My Ego - $50 for the group A unique and fascinating way to display how to let go of your ego on a simple task. The group will work together in completing a task and learn to focus on the small details and that you can’t accomplish everything by yourself. Give Back to the Community Volunteering with a local Racine Charity • HALO: Cook and serve food as a team at a local homeless shelter in Racine. An Alternative would be to prepare a meal at Wingspread and bring it to HALO. • Park/Beach Cleanup: Right on the shores of Lake Michigan and near many parks, help in leaving no trace behind. • Local Food Bank: As a team, help sort food donations into different categories. • Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin: Make and serve a meal to the residents. Egg Drop GROUP SIZE: Suggested for groups of 40 or less people DESCRIPTION: Egg drop is designed to have teams of colleagues work together to create a vessel for dropping an egg off the balcony. Each team is given the same items and amount of items to use. This is a great way for teams to work on communication, collaboration and innovation. Palate Challenge GROUP SIZE: Suggested for groups of 40 or less people DESCRIPTION: Test your palate in this fun and interactive challenge. Teams or individuals can step up to be blindfolded and taste a variety of different everyday foods to see who can identify the most correctly. This can be done as part of an existing reception or as a standalone event with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. PRICING: $7 per person; $25 per person with 3 Chef’s choice stationary hors d’oeuvres. Chef’s Table GROUP SIZE: 6 people or less DESCRIPTION: Grab a seat at the dining table in the Wingspread kitchen to discuss and watch Chef create your meal. It will allow you to learn more about Wingspread, sustainability practices, and just how to cook that perfect cut of meat. Cooking with Fire GROUP SIZE: Suggested for groups of 25 or less people DESCRIPTION: An outdoor cooking class over fire pit or gas grill. Learn the challenges of cooking unconventionally over an open flame. Teams will be guided with our Executive Chef to create their own dry meat rubs, and experiencing the unique art of grilling. Each team will take on the challenge of preparing one of the courses the group will enjoy for lunch or dinner. Our culinary team will be instructing as you go. End the experience with eating what you’ve made! Offsite Team Building Opportunities Available • Riverbend Nature center: Educational & recreational programs and events are an important aspect of River Bend’s mission. Take advantage of the many opportunities throughout the year to connect with nature at River Bend. Enjoy hands-on nature classes, special events, and presentations about the many facets of our environment. Activity examples include: hiking, canoe rental, cross-country ski rentals or guided bird watching. • Wind Point Lighthouse: The Wind Point Lighthouse is open for tower climb tours on select dates during the year and is also available to private groups by reservation. The park grounds are open daily. Whether the trip is for exploring history, photos or taking in the scenery, visitors will be glad they got up and close with the historic lighthouse. • Seven Keys to Escape: Teams of up to 7 players work together to discover clues, solve puzzles, and escape the locked room before time runs out.
