Presidents Message „I wish all players a most enjoyable European Amateur Team Championship. This event is now in its 60th year and has played a major part in bringing European men’s golf to a world - class level. The European Golf Association is grateful to the German Golf Association and to Faldo Course Berlin im A-ROSA Scharmützelsee for hosting the 2018 champion- ship. I have no doubt that the championship will be played in the customary spirit of sportsmanship and friendship. Best of luck to you all!“ Pierre Bechmann, President of the European Golf Association „We are delighted to welcome Europe´s best amateur golfers to Bad Saarow in July 2018. The FALDO Course Berlin is an exceptional venue and together with the A-ROSA Scharmüt- zelsee and the EGA we strive to offer you a first-class event”. Claus M. Kobold, President of the German Golf Association Page 5
Venue The Golfresort A-ROSA Scharmützelsee and the Golf Club Bad Saarow offer 63 holes of golf at the beautiful lake Scharmützelsee – ideal opportunities for all golf levels. With the design of Sir Nick Faldo and Arnold Palmer the golf courses were built for posterity. On our 300 acres, you will find three completely different, diverse golf courses. They are located in the middle of Brandenburg, right at the beautiful lake Scharmützelsee. Next to two driving ranges (playable from both ends), there is also a diverse offering of pitching, chipping, and putting greens. The one and only five-star superior golf course in Germany (German Golf Course Owners Association) has a truly fitting location right next to the resort, which was named Germany’s leading Golf Resort 2008 and 2009 (World Travel Awards). The courses were all designed by legendary architects and are integrated harmoniously into the natural surroundings. For Stan Eby, Arnold Palmer and Sir Nick Faldo, who designed the most demanding course in Germany, variety and natural beauty were at the forefront of their plans from the very start. FALDO Course Berlin The typical Links-Course with its undulating fairways and the 133 “Scottish” pot-bunkers poses a challenge even to the Professionals - which is why it is considered as Germany´s most demanding golf course. Sir Nick Faldo created a true legacy of golf with his design. In 1996 the former World Number One initiated the Faldo Series in Europe encouraging young golfers to play with the only course in Germany being Golf Club Bad Saarow. Many renowned Championships have taken place at Bad Saarow, e.g. the German Open in 1998 and 1998, in addition to the World Amateur Team Championship in 2000. In its bid for the Ryder Cup 2018, Germany chose the Faldo Course as the proposed venue. This unique and exceptional course is an experience that no golfer in the world should miss. Page 7
