He has played on the Australasian, Japanese and European tours (including the 1984 British Open at St. Andrews, Scotland). Today Richard is the director of the Richard Mercer Golf Academy at The Vintage in the Hunter Valley where he has been nominated NSW PGA Instructor of the Year three times. Here, Richard shares his passion and love of golf with others – from beginners to fellow professionals. Andrew Mercer Andrew Mercer is a long time resident of Australia’s U S O P E N Hunter Valley where he moved with his family over twenty years ago. Following school, Andrew returned to the golf & wine tour 2019 Hunter where he spent 5 years with Lindeman’s Wines, a part of Treasury Wine Estates, as both a Cellar Door Manager and later as the Venue Supervisor. Andrew joined Tulloch Wines two years ago as their Cellar Door 8 -1 Manager and has recently moved to Tyrrell’s where he has become an integral part of the sales team. 7 J U N E 2 019

Pasatiempo was certainly one of designer Alister MacKenzie’s favorites. The legendary architect made his golf & wine tour The Ocean Course is aptly named and boasts some of the best final four finishing holes in golf. The Ocean Course opened in 1997, and was home off the par-5 sixth hole and regarded the difficult, uphill 16th as one of the best par designed by renowned landscape architect Arthur Hills in San Francisco’s 4s ever designed by him or anyone else. To make it even better, the golf club embarked on a two-year restoration project headed up by Tom Doak. The result was nothing less than spectacular as bunkers and greens were to returned original specifications with modern turf 2019 traditional “links style” design delivering “firm and fast” fairways. The wispy native grasses accenting the tees and the plaintive wail of the bagpipers who play at weekend sundown, join forces to transport players 8 -1 7 J U N E 2 019 and drainage technology.
