Celebrate the festive season in style.
Imagine Christmas in a gorgeous country manor, where the log fires are
roaring, the mulled wine is flowing, and your every need is catered for.
All you need to do is sit back, relax and soak up the festivities.
Join us for a sophisticated Christmas, Twixmas or New Year break and
enjoy the most relaxing festive getaway you’ve ever had.
Throughout December, you can also enjoy a festive lunch, afternoon tea or
dinner in the relaxed surroundings of our elegant county house. Whether you
are catching up with family and friends, or saying a big “thank you” to work
colleagues, The Horn of Plenty makes an excellent choice.
Our festive lunch, afternoon tea and dinner menus are available daily from 1st
– 23rd December. Reservations are always recommended.

Festive Lunch Menu

Starters
Creedy Carver duck liver mousse, with pain d’épices and pickled pear
Whipped Sharpham brie, pickled heritage carrot and puffed wild rice
Seared smoked haddock fillet with a clam and pancetta chowder
*Local pork belly with apple textures and celeriac puree and chive oil
Mains
Turkey stuffed with cranberry and chestnuts, dauphinoise potato
and all the trimmings
Pan roasted Cornish hake, artichokes, hazelnuts and wild mushrooms
Slow cooked beef with roast shallots, salt baked swede and sage
Black truffle and cauliflower risotto with parmesan and white chocolate
Desserts
Horn of Plenty Christmas pudding, brandy butter and redcurrant
Valrhona dark chocolate and red berry mousse with gingerbread ice cream

3-night Christmas break
Christmas Eve
Meet your fellow guests and enjoy a freshly prepared luxury afternoon tea
with scones, sandwiches and cakes in the restaurant, or in front of one of
our crackling log fires. Christmas festivities begin with a pre-dinner Prosecco
reception and canapés, followed by a delicious 3 course dinner with coffee
and liqueurs. Midnight mass will be held at St Eustacius Church in Tavistock.
Christmas Day
Wake up to a Horn of Plenty classic breakfast at your leisure. Stroll through
the grounds or wander around the charming market town of Tavistock.
Kir Royale and canapés will commence the Christmas Day celebrations,
followed by a lavish 6-course luncheon.
Christmas Day evening is a relaxed affair with a superb candle-lit
cold dressed buffet.
Boxing Day
After breakfast, wrap up warm for a display of magnificent birds of prey.
Enjoy a light lunch, then perhaps a stroll around the Tamar Valley or Kit Hill.
Alternatively, relax with a book in front of one of our lovely log fires.
Dinner will commence with a Prosecco reception, followed by a delicious
5-course tasting menu with matching wines.
27th December
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before bidding a fond farewell to new-found friends.

Relax and unwind in front of a crackling log fire or in the restaurant.
Meet your fellow guests, and enjoy a luxury afternoon tea with a selection
of freshly made scones, sandwiches and festive cakes.
In the evening, savour a delicious 3 course dinner,
followed by coffee and liqueurs.
New Year’s Eve
After a Horn of Plenty classic breakfast, enjoy a wander through our
gardens, a walk along the Tamar Trails or a bracing stroll across Dartmoor.
Alternatively, just relax with a good book or newspaper.
Devon Cream Tea with scones, jam and clotted cream will be
served from 3.30pm.
New Year celebrations commence at 7.30pm, with a Prosecco reception in
the drawing room, accompanied by talented harpist Elizabeth-Jane Baldry.
Then take your seats for a spectacular gourmet 6-course dinner.
See the New Year in by raising a glass of Prosecco at midnight.
New Year’s Day
Start the New Year with a leisurely, traditional breakfast, then wrap up warm
for a fascinating falconry display in the grounds, hosted by David Buncle from
West Country Falconry.
You are then free to enjoy the day exploring the local area, followed by tea
and sandwiches on your return. In the evening, savour our fantastic 5-course
tasting menu, accompanied by 5 carefully selected wines.

The prices quoted are per room based on two people sharing, and include
all accommodation, meals, tea/coffee and entertainment as stated.
• A £495 non-refundable deposit will be taken at the time of booking.
• Payment is required in full by 1st November.
We reserve the right to re-sell your room if total payment has not been
received by this date.
Cancellation policy:
• We will do our best to re-let on your behalf, however please note that the
full cost of the package will be incurred if unsuccessful. Insurance cover is
always highly recommended.
• We reserve the right to change or cancel advertised entertainment due
to circumstances beyond our control.

• We are always happy to cater for special dietary needs;

• Dress code: Black tie for New Years Eve, otherwise smart casual.
